   And this begs the question: with Reagan, Milton Friedman, Buckley dead and Thatcher retired, where the bloody hell is the next generation? Sure, we have a Fox channel full of pundits, but I’m not talking about that. They’re great foot soldiers, but where’s the officer class?

   We got lucky with a happy convergence of like minded giants who peaked in the same time frame, then after that, pfft?

   Saying conservatism needs no one single spokesman is not the same as saying it needs none at all to pick up the guide-on and run with it, who can explain it all to a new generation who never knew wage and price controls, regulation, and shortages brought on by liberals running things.

   Forget living in the 1980’s. I want to live in the 2010’s, and am fed up with seeing a good movement slowly die bit by bit with the deaths of its spokesmen. The world is a colder, dumber place because Buckley dies leaving a vacuum instead of a dozen worthy rising successors.
