excellent! i am a mac sysadmin. i do not own one. pc.
I feel your pain, Mlah.
It’s a tool. Sheesh. Use the one you like. I’m amazed by the theological nature people associate with computers.
My, my it gets heated fast on that topic.
You’d almost think those Mac people were Ron Paul supporters or something… ;)
BTW, I’m PC all the way, but I hate Vista.
I hate Vista.
Who doesn’t?
Good point.
And speaking of Macs – your tax dollars at work:

Methinks Vista would be (if he had half a brain) Jobs window (no pun intended) of opportunity to cross port OSX for “windows based” machines. He would make a killing. This would also be true for the major Linux distros out there. It is not for naught that Vista is called ME 2.
Og: I don’t hate Vista. I think it’s just fine on my PC at home, next to my iMac and my unix server.
I don’t see what the problem is, other than people blaming their hardware vendor’s incompetence in making drivers on Microsoft.
I’ve seen zero problems with drivers on new hardware these days; every complaint I’ve seen has been for ancient hardware or right after Vista was released.
(The other two Vista complaints I’ve seen are related;
A) “it doesn’t act exactly like XP”, to which I reply “well, XP wasn’t 2K, 2K wasn’t NT, and NT wasn’t 3.11. You lived then, buck up and move on.”
and
B) “UAC is annoying”, to which I reply “so turn it off”.)
Guy: Uh. Hate to break this to you, but OSX already runs on Intel-based PCs; Macs these days are almost identical to PCs, except for having the newer EFI firmware rather than old PC BIOS.
People have hacked OSX to run on normal PCs very nearly since the first public x86 releases.
Jobs hasn’t released a plain-PC port because that would be suicidally stupid for Apple, which is a hardware company.
(And Linux? To “replace windows”? Hah. Oh, wait. You were serious.)
Vista’s an improvement on XP, architecturally*, and not comparable to ME in any way, so anyone calling it “ME2”, well, doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about, or is using the term in such a loose way as to be meaningless.
* Yay, user-mode drivers!
Mweh. Haven’t seen a good reason yet to switch, or upgrade. When I do, I may, but everything I hear about vista (when you tax it, specifically) is less than optimal.
Apple Board of Directors has Albert Gore…microsoft wins!
Sig, I know it runs on Intel based machines (if I wasn’t clear I apologize), as the newest from apple have intel inside. To the best of my (admittedly limited) knowledge, OSX will not run on your (originally) Windows based machines, at least not until you do some work with emulators. That also begs the questions about Apple licensing agreements if you don’t have mac hardware running the apple OS.
