Crossover voters
Listening to a Dennis Prager piece talking about people voting Hillary or Obama to keep them hammering away at each other, how Dennis dislikes it.
Kim has posted also, that he dislikes the idea.
Both have cited that they would be displeased if the Dems did it to us. Well, they do. And will again.
here’s a newsflash: When you WIN, you can change things. Like change the rules so dems can’t crossover and vote nor can republicans. But first, you have to WIN.
let me quote Sean Connery as John Mason in “The Rock”:
“Your “best”! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen.”
Win. Then fix a broken system. But win first.

I and several thousand other republicans voted for Hillary in the Texas primary, simply to fuck with Obama’s numbers.
Fuck him.
I can understand not liking it where Democrats to cross over and diddle in Republican primaries and cauci.
But there’s a reason I don’t like political thought experiments — “If this were a Republican, you know the media would be all over it like stink on shit” — because they’re so … well, to coin a term, lame. It’s a weak, loser’s argument. Don’t argue from speculation, argue from fact.
Democrats have crossed over and fucked with Republican primaries. How do you think we got McCain, fercrissakes? Does he look or sound like the Republican base would or should support him?
(Realizing I should be addressing Kim and Prager, not you, Og, but…)
Gib’ mir ein frechin’ break!

The GOP could’ve prevented crossover votes from counting. For instance, in California, they did that in 2006 for congressional primaries.
How many things does the GOP need to normalize to thwart conservative hopes before it becomes clear that it is not a mistake but an intent?
The party has so many interests groups who gain such things as government spending (e.g., Big Farming, Biomeds) and fascist restrictions that either stifle competition (e.g, Dupont) or limit resources to raise prices (e.g., Oil via EPA) to expand its tent to INCLUDE those who favor government’s growth.
The metamorphosis continues.
One of the many beautiful things of living in a state such as Texas is there is no designation of party affiliation on our voter registration id’s. We can truly vote for whoever we please, without asking for permission or special exemptions, and that’s exactly what democracy is all about.
I find it hard to believe that either of those two — both of whom I normally respect — are against doing unto the Democraps what they’ve been doing to us for years.
At some point you sort of have to come out swinging. And the Dumbs have given us the perfect opportunity this year.
Maybe the other side will think twice before they pull this crap on us again…or maybe not, since Dumbs don’t actually think. Either way, we’ve just added another weapon to our arsenal…and it is damn fun to watch the morons beat the hell out of each other.
Pass the popcorn, please.
Illinois has open primaries as well. The date of the primaries comes, you walk into your polling precinct and they ask for your name. When they find your name you have to sign the book to show that you have been there (next to a copy of your signature from your registration-which better match to the election judges eye). You sign something else and then you are asked what party you want, Republican, Democrat, Independent (or you can get a card that is just for local issues/referendums). You set behind the curtain and fill in the circles. Come out of the booth and put your card in the scanner-which tells you how many ballots have been cast. Easy breezy and easy to cross to a different party without having to join.
And I believe that is the way it should be.
I have a hard time believing that enough people crossed lines in Pennsylvania to actually change the vote. Merely make it a closer race.
wow, dick, you shocked me. of course, you know, i like dick crossed over in texas, but there was no republican race to be had by that time.
i wager all of hillary’s razor thin lead has been the hard work of seriously conflicted conservatives that don’t want to see the presidency swept away by emotion like an episode of american idol. what they (dims) say is frightening, both of them, but hillary is by far more easily beatable. don’t you think?
omg, did i really type “of course, you know, i like dick” ?? this is what i hate about blogs!! ugh. always stepping in it.
It gives me comfort that you like dick, SG.
the twisted thoughts are just a flying.
Og, you may be interested to know one of the big proponents of Republicans screwing with Dem primaries in order to prolong the knifefight, is Rush Limbaugh. He calls it “Operation Chaos”. The idea is to have the number of elected delegates so close, that the superdelagates become the tiebreaker, turning backroom dealings into a bloodbath.
And it seems to be working.
HTRN,
I simply hate Obama. That was more than enough reason for me. I don’t listen to Rush.
The thing that’s making Operation Chaos and party-jumping work against the Dumbs is their own idiotic system of proportional delegate representation. They really have no one to blame but themselves.
In a winner-takes-all system as used by the Pubs, Obama, like McCain, would already be the presumptive nominee. Instead, here they are, duking it out right down to the wire and essentially leaving it up to the superdelegates.
Remember, it’s the Dumbs who want to get rid of the Electoral College. But just think what a Presidential election would look like if electors were allocated proportionaly based on the popular vote. I’m guessing it would look a lot like what the Dumbs are looking at right now. And for my money, they can keep it, and leave the Electoral College alone.
In PA, it’s a closed primary.
I took action last year to register as D, so I could do the right thing for my country.
Original plan was to vote for the looniest moonbat, but the shakeout dictated that I vote to keep the dissent going in the D party.
When the real election comes along- I will prolly vote for McCain’s VP.
The presidency is too important to NOT avail oneself of all *legal* means to affect the outcome.
Any sour grapes about the process, well, tough, change the process next time…
We have open primaries in Virginia, so I crossed over in 2004 for Lieberman as a pure protest vote – he had already dropped out, but I just could not countenance that bloviating asshat Kerry. And this year, there was little I could do on my side since McCain essentially had it in the bag by then. Unfortunately,
there were no even remotely viable/ responsible options on the socialist side, so I tried to at least impart false hope to her lowness (that hurt!)
No matter what, it’s gonna be a long 4 years…
