What’s the difference between a McDonald’s employee and a public school teacher?
Well, if you fuck up hamburger after hamburger day in and day out, you get fired. If your students graduate without being able to read, do math, or form a coherent thought, you get a three month paid vacation!
(Yes, I know all about how teachers get paid, yadda yadda. And if you are offended by this, it is aimed directly at YOU. if you are a teacher and this doesn’t bother you in the least, you may be one of the rare decent ones) (or you could be a moron, I can’t tell over the internet)
One of the reasons I moved to my little area of southern texas from St. Louis Missouri was the quality of the schools for my children. However in the 4 years we have been living here, the quality of education has declined and I am very seriously considering taking my children out of the school and homeschooling them. The largest problem with our local schools? The current boom in real estate prices and development in the area. More and more people are moving to the area from Corpus Christi, and bringing their problem student children with them,who do NOT know how to learn or think. And are such disruptions in class that my children are unable to learn. The school’s policies about the disruptions are heavy handed and misdirected, and offer no real solution to the problem. I have complained to the principals, the school board and the local representative from the state education board. I have yet to receive any substantive response or action by anyone in a position of authority. So I’m brushing up on my own skill set and preparing to take matters into my own hand if they become necessary. I don’t wish to have to home school my children, however I might not have choice in the matter.
