Youtubing down the river
Weather girl says something about “Stormy Weather” so I got the urge to hear Ella sing it. In the sidebar, there was Ella and Louis doing “Summertime”, so i listened to that. And in the sidebar of THAT one was Louis and Johnny singing “Blue Yodel Number Nine”.
Then I see Elvis doing “Folsom Prison” Obviously hammered out of his mind. Then Andy Kaufmann doing elvis.
\And i had to stop. it was just getting ridiculous.
Where do your musical meanderings take you?

The kids always look at me funny when I start singing “supper time and the belly is growling” around 6:30. I guess I’ll have to round out their education a bit.
I was in the garage working on the Alfa when I decided to play some music to keep my blood pressure down. While I was looking for my CD/tape player, I found a box of tapes that I had made about 10 years ago – including a collection of classic Eric Clapton. So, I put the Clapton tape in and went to work. After one side of Clapton, I got a hankering for some Stevie Ray Vaughn. Sure enough, there he was in the box of tapes so in the player it goes. One of the SRV performances is a cover of the classic surf tune “Pipelineâ€. So, after SRV, I went to the box and found “Classic Surf Instrumentalsâ€, and after that the Beach Boys were a natural choice – also in the box. One side of The Beach Boys wasn’t enough so I flipped the tape over and out of the speakers came some God-awful noise that one of my kids must have put on that tape.
In those days, I was constantly after them to leave my tapes alone. They would grab any tape that was lying around and use it for their “musicâ€. I had to resort to hiding the tapes to keep from beating the kids senseless and to keep peace in the household. I guess I hid these so well that I didn’t find them again for ten years!
Anyway, the mood was broken and my musical meanderings ended for the day.
Musical meandering.Whether or not it’s “really” playing doesn’t seem to matter.I can hear it all just fine between my ears. Usually takes me back to somewhere between 1964 and 1968.There goes Dancing in the streets by Martha and the Vandellas !Probably followed by Heatwave.Summertime Blues anyone ?
