Yes, yes I think THIS will do.

A couple of GAU-8 Avengers, low slung, mounted out front in place of the foglights. I mean, sheesh, a 30 millimeter (no that’s NOT 30 caliber, but 30 millimeter, or over an inch and an eighth in diameter) 2/3 lb depleted uranium round, which can penetrate a tank? will work nicely on any econoboxes I might encounter. And at 3900 rounds per minute each one is capable of vomiting forth one ton of flaming, red hot death in 46 seconds.
I don’t know if I love this concept more than Condoleeza Rice, but in fairness, Condi is probably cheaper to feed.

That’s the low priced set – you need two more on outriggers.
Right the fuck on, Cochise. I am down with that.
You need to do the math. Even the A-10 on full power can’t overcome the reverse “thrust” from just one of those babies. They loose airspeed as long as they are firing. With two of those on your rig off center like that you better fire them in tandem and hope one doesn’t jam. And keep your seat belt fastened when you pull the trigger. You might want to disable the airbags too…
That’s just one reason why I prefer rockets with HE payloads for “off road” encounters.
Sorry… {exit nerd mode}
Cool!
I have done the math.
Since the Exploder sits on the ground, and not in the air, the friction of the tires will overcome most of the rearward thrust. If I add two wheels to the back axle, it will counter the recoil forces adequately and if I keep it to three-second bursts, (about 400 rounds total)it will scrub no more than .06mm off the tire tread each burst. There will be added suspension components to deal with the extra weight of ammo, and the ammo weight itself will more than counter most of the recoil forces.
All of which is a moot point, of course, because of the simultaneously-firing twin GAU-8’s in the rear. I don’t need no assholes following me, either.
Besides, the RPG backblast would seriously fuckup my paint.
Way too high tech.
I want a trebuchet for my 2500 Ram…
RPG’s can be aimed independently from the vehicle. RPG’s don’t mess up the face of the operator (or your paint job) because they have a initial charge that just pops them out of the tube with an initial velocity of 300 fps or so. At about 10 to 20 feet the rocket motor ignites and propels them to something over 900 fps. At about 900 yards they automatically self destruct. When they strike they can penetrate 14 inches of homogenous armor or about 40 inches of reinforced concrete. Sufficient for all but the most demainding urban encounters.
Compare this to the 30mm gun which must be aimed by moving the vehicle. Is going to be lethal to innocents and damage property for many miles. The RPG can be aimed independently of the vehicle. And the 30 mm probably doesn’t have anything in terms of penetration power on the RPG.
I’m not saying you should be prohibited from the dual or quad 30mm’s. After all the 2nd Amendment does says, “…shall not be infringed.” I’m just wanting you to maximize your chances of connecting with your target and minimize the tearing up the innocents. Of course nothing except money and payload capacity prohibits you from having both systems.
hey, I got nothing against rpgs. I just know which is more fun, and it’s the GAU-8. Hands down.
I have often thought about forward-firing .50 cals for my Ram 1500. The roadblock I keep encountering is figuring out a way to shoot, scoot, and not run over the wreckage….say you’re tooling along at 65 mph (~100 fps) and you engage a target 200 feet in front of you. That gives you 2 secs to execute a quick OODA analysis based on a rapidly changing debris field in front of you.
Much better to get in front of the offending target and fire toward the rear. As the man said, “What’s behind us is of no concern!”
can i borrow yours next weekend? we just got some snow.
A Rant About Bad Drivers
Like many of you out there, I am impatient with drivers who exhibit a particular lack of common sense or actual driving skills. While these…
