I was apparently dreaming. Still, it’s tight, the bore is good, and it’s relativbely uinscathed- the grips are there, it hasn’t been (obviously) bubbaed. Has one decent mag.

Still.

Maybe someday.

In the store, in the gun library, is a Thomas Bland & sons double in 500 Black Powder Express. Underlever, back action. They want $3999 for it. The left barrel is bright as new, but the right has some spots- I didn’t have them run a mop down it, but the front trigger fires the right hammer, so I suspect that barrel got the most use and may well be a little corroded. It has some other p[roblems too, the barrel doesn’t snap up and the underlever feels loose. Still, a bespoke english rifle for $4k? damn.
