I don’t blame Powell
for switching sides. He was the most hated black man in America when GW named him, and he left his job in disgrace having earned the disdain of conservatives (for his allegedly bad WMD info) (Yes, I said allegedly) and the hatred of liberals for being the “Bush house ni**er”.
Now he’s trying to get anyone to like him, and by endorsing someone he knows is a worthless piece of shit he has earned the love of his former mortal enemies.
Maybe he’ll learn- like OJ did- that those friends are not the ones he needs. Or not. Maybe he’ll start wearing his pants down around his thighs and hugging trees.
Stay away from those evergreens, Colin. Specially with those droopy drawers.

You forgot to mention that he has a institutional type mentality due to his prolonged career in the service. In other words, he wants life to pattern the military system of equality. He’s never been a Republican, so it’s no biggie.
And just because I of all people don’t want to be labeled as a racist (which seems to be somewhat in fashion these days), I won’t mention that Powell benefited from and got to where he is today from racial quotas and affirmative action.
Oh shit, I mentioned that, didn’t I?
Don’t taze me Bro!!
Too late!! BRZAPPPPPPP!!!!
Whoa, that’s gonna leave a mark. Y’oughta wear some shorts, dude.
It didn’t surprise me at all. Powell, like McCain, isn’t a particularly conservative individual. Sure, he’s to the right of Obama, but so’s Joe Biden.
Colin Powell = just another member of the 95%. Big surprise that – NOT.
Unfortunately, this says a lot about Powell.
Of course, he’s always been a liberal but he was mentored by Republicans in spite of it.
He feels he’s been betrayed and there’s some justification for that feeling. But he’s gone over to the opposition to try and redeem his reputation and has thereby, trashed his honor. Not the mark of a great Soldier but par for the course for a politician….
Just a thought
I’ve read about him before (mostly interviews), and knew him to be a social liberal, but this surprises a lot of people because he kept it under his hat for so long, since he knew it would take away from the job he was doing. I don’t see it as a flip, but a coming out.
He was put up to do a thankless job, what they call a s**t detail in the Army, and he did it well, but instead of appreciation for him and rallying around him when the WMD doubts began to surface, it seems they put him curbside on garbage day. We all are willing to take one for the team and make a sacrifice for others so the goal is accomplished, but we all would feel back-stabbed if the team laughs at us for doing so instead of respecting the effort.
I just see him having a convergence of reasons for endorsing Obama. I just wish Powell had done gone ahead and ran on the Democrat ticket. At least we’d know he stands alone, and is not beholden to whomever brought him to the big game.
