   Does this mean Kelly is going to become a nanny (with requisite British accent) and fly from troubled home to troubled home via her umbrella?

   Seriously, if you have the knack for that sort of thing, and the funds to start up your own business, then why not become “your own boss”. There are more then enough folks out there with fireplaces, and more looking into installing same each day what with the rising cost of energy…a fireplace is a great way to generate heat…specially if you have access to cheap firewood.

   Don’t bother anywhere near Frisco. There the AQMD has banned use of wood-burning fireplaces on whatever days it arbitrarily sees needed. The smoke spotters (a neighbor) reports you; they come out and verify; then they simply slip the ticket, with a fine schedule tied to how many times you’ve been in violation, under your door. That, or something like it as proven by their loud denials, is the procedure.

   This year in Oakland, next year in L.A., the following in Ft Worth.

   Nah; it doesn’t look like a growth biz Dick.

   Anybody trying to ban wood-burning fireplaces or stoves in Fort Worth is going on my short list.

   Beyond that, Dick, go for it! There’s a WHOLE LOT to be said for being your own boss.

   Piece of advice though… get your advertising lined up BEFORE you quit your day job, or it can be pretty sketchy (voice of experience).

   I could do it, but I would rather keep just one boss happy rather than ever woman I contract with to do something her own hubby should do. I’ve already got a wife, what would I want with the rest of them?

   I thinks its an excellent idea. You could also give blow jobs on the side and be a chimney swallow. Prolly double your take home.

   Well if it is something you like to do and you won’t be facing competition from large companies or every Tom, Dork and Harriet, try doing it part time to see if it will work. Would it be something that would still get customers during hard times. We may be facing some really hard times for some years IMHO. Even in good times you darn near need a three years of supply of money to live on till your average new business breaks even.
