As you enter geezerhood some years from now, you’ll take this for granted.
When you’re REALLY into geezerhood, say 65, you’ll read the obits in the paper, first thing in the am, just to make sure you should change out of your PJs.
I hear ya, Og. I’m a coupla months (shy of one day) older than Sarah Palin!
Hits like a ton ‘o bricks sometimes.
Then I look at my spry mom at nearly 80, who shattered her knee in ’07 but you’d never know it today. She is a poster child for keeping active in her middle to late years. Her doctors are amazed and praise her.

Yes, but the only way the President is younger than you by any significant measure is maturity.
My mom was an energetic 80, too.
I don’t think that annual checkups can be too thorough, but considering where medical care is headed, thorough checkups for people over age 60 are likely to go the way of the Dodo bird and Passenger Pigeon.
My mom is right on the cusp of 80 as well. And she keeps talking about going to live in Greece having a small vineyard going to make ends meet. Would not be surprised if she makes it to the century mark with ease.
