I love the crisp mornings
the scent of the hunt in the air, the turning leaves, the frost on the grass in the morning.
Just not usually in AUGUST.

I like this weather because it’s the only time of year when I’m really comfortable, but dammit, I want my hot August mornings! It was 49 degrees when I left for work this morning!
Clarification: By “time of year”, I mean “when it’s supposed to feel like this”.
I love it being 65 in the house in the morning when I get up.
My wife hates it, of course :)
You sound like a Denier.
Algore will set you straight.
My wife, snarky little sweetie that she is, noted it is now September. That being said, I, on the other hand, agree with you. This year we have not had any real “summer weather”. The number of times the temp got over 90 could probably be counted on one hand. And it also had to have been one of the wettest summers on record for this part of the country.
My knees are telling me this fall/winter will be (much) colder than usual, which should make for a very colorful display of autumn leaves. And it will be wetter than the norm, meaning my 2year old snow blower was a smart investment after all.
I’m debating the whole bow vs gun thing in my brainpan for this year. The bow is slowly winning out. If for nothing else, just for the Deliverance factor.
I like the fall mornings, too, but here in NoVA I’ve already had oak trees changing color and dropping leaves for about a week. I don’t think this is a sign of good things to come, we’ll probably have the worst winter here in years.
Poor little munchkins! LOL
Here in God’s country, we had a cool morning and a hot day. We ultra sounded about 300 yearling heifers and got some good rides on some young horses.
Life is good. Sorry you guys don’t live in a wonderful place like I do! ;)
LOL
rdennis, you may have the pleasure of living in “gods country”, but this ol retired squid, resides about 100 miles west of Chicago; in other words we are adjacent to “Satan’s backyard”. Now if I could get to Tx, or Az, than we could talk about gods country.
Sorry Guy S, I have been to both and they don’t quite fill the high demands set by the Lord. I’m sure he travels to other places but maintains a permanent residence right here in western South Dakota. :)
Oh and before you comment on the cold winters and hot summers, they just keep the whiners and weenies, mostly weeded out, tho’ it is an ongoing process.
RD, you have no idesa what summer and winter is until you’ve been in Chicago.
Gods country is where I am, not a geographic location. The creator reveals the splendor of the world to the careful observer anywhere.
My tongue was more than a little “in cheek” on the above comments (though I would love to be back in Tx).
As Og states the active hand of God may be witnessed in all corners of the world. As much as I grouse about the harshness of the winters (and late fall-early spring) and my knees constant reminders of same, you can’t escape the beauty of a bright sunshiny fall day with every bit of foliage dressed in it’s most colorful finery. Or the stark beauty of a yard covered in freshly fallen snow. I grew up with distinct seasons (all four), and each left an indelible mark on ones memory, not soon forgotten.
Maybe taking a minute or two to experience and enjoy the world God has made (where ever you are) will help to counter all the crap being tossed at us from the host of idiots seeking to tear up that which man has made.
I gotcha fine, Guy. And I’m only poking fun at Dennis, because I know the weather outthere is plenty harsh, but nowhere do we have such temperature extremes combined with the presence of mind numbing ignorance as in the midwest.
I was always confused at how the asshats in charge of Chicago could be such egotistical putzes, when the all time definition for humility resides in a ball park on the northside of said town. (Yeah, I’m a Cubs fan … paying back on my future time in Purgatory, in the here and now. *grin*)
Guess the politicos must all be “Sox fans”.
Oh, you were talking about the voters as well? Heck, they have been voting for bread and circuses via the democratic machine for so long, I don’t know as if they are able to vote any other way.
Ahh, now we are getting somewhere……lol
rdennis: Need a ranch hand? Or a cook? Shoe-shiner? Something? Anything?
/rooting for the zombies
Joanna, only if you are willing to work for room and board. See, that is why there are so few people who live around here, which makes it wonderful. It’s real hard to make a good living. But if you can be satisfied with food and clothing, then head on out! :)
Food, clothing, Internet and ammo. And my cat has to come, but I think she’d like the outdoors in SoDak …
What size ammo? Send photo of you and cat……
:-P
Trust me rd, joanna is incredibly easy on the eyes. Maybe dangerously so.
I’m sure she is, but what about the cat? I just hate an ugly cat!
Oh, and can we move this conversation to another thread? Getting hard to keep clicking back to this one!
