Joanna the Houseless
Joanna is currently houseless (not homeless, big difference) and has (only moderately tongue in cheek) offered to travel to South Dakota to cook and work for M. Dennis of Dennis ranch.
Now, I can vouch for Mr Dennis that Joanna would be perfectly safe in his company, and I can vouch for Joanna that she’d be nice to have around, being a generally nice person who would probably not bother to own an ugly cat. And based on her recipes she can most likely cook up a storm. Question is, how serious are either one of them? Enquiring minds want to know.

Ranching, alas, will have to wait for another day — I’ve got an apartment waiting for me after the first weekend in October, and I’m staying at my parents’ in the meantime. The trick is going to be moving all my crap to storage on short notice (like an entire apartment’s worth of stuff in two days). God help me, though, if my dad gets on my nerves enough I just might head west …
And no my cat is not ugly thank you very much for asking. :-)
Makes for a nice little daydream, though, don’t it?
Damn straight. I’d love to go all Call of the Wild up on yo, but something tells me the student loan people would track me down, even in the Yukon. Overall, I’m in a good place, considering — and I’ll have a bitchin’ cable package for like $10 a month. So, there’s that. If God wants to bring things together for me like this, who am I to argue? I’d be stupid not to take what he’s plopped in front of me.
hey, have you ever seen “Alone in the wilderness” the story of Dick Proenneke? A lot of it is on Youtube, and its awesome to watch.
Alas and alack(is that how you spell it?) And here I thought me and the missus was getting us a house slave!
Oh well, hope it all works out for you Joanna and maybe you can just come visit some day. :)
Oh, and we’d even let you bring the cat. We have cats too and I bet they’d love a visitor as much as we do.
By the way, thanks Og for moving this conversation up to the top, so to speak!
Unfortunately, the student loan folks don’t take sweat equity. :-P Wait ’til I finish my best-seller. Ain’t nothin’ gonna hold me back then …
