So sunday afternoon I swing by my local Cabelas for a look at shooty goodness with my best friend, Partner. he’s looking at a Beretta 92.

Now, I should back up. We went to Westforth’s a couple weeks- hell, maybe even a month ago- and he bought a Beretta 92 there. Actually, that’s not true, he bought an M9. Beretta is selling “real” issue M9 sidearms, mil spec, the real deal (well, as far as I can tell).

He bought it as an investment. The price was VERY right, it had all the documentation, the original cardboard box in perfect condition, etc. He figured he’d put a couple rounds through it, clean it thoroughly, and park it in the safe.

And then he shot it.

he discovered he CAN shoot it. he’s got vision issues and can’t shoot his 1911’s worth a damn, most days, and he can’t do much with a wheelgun either. He’d despaired of ever beeing able to shoot a sidearm and the beretta made a believer out of him.

he can hit what he’s aiming at, with astonishing regularity, and the pistol feels good in his hands.

But he still didn’t want to shoot this thing, so I convinced him to get a civvy model 92, which he bought sunday.

This is the 14th gun this year I’ve talked him into purchasing. I am the king of enablers.
