If you labor under the impression that Islam is peaceful or Muslims aren’t out to do us harm, you are patently an idiot.
If you are OK with Islam, here’s what that means.
it means you are OK with Muslims murdering innocents in the name of their ideology
it means you are OK with Muslims converting our country to a theocracy
it means you are OK with Muslims oppressing women in whatever way they choose.
it means you are OK with Muslims destroying Israel and murdering all the Jews.
It means you are OK with a 100 percent male dominated society
It means you are OK with complete male dominance over females at all times.
it means you are OK with complete male control of women’s “reproductive freedomâ€
it means you are OK with “honor killings“- women murdered because of some real or imagined slight to the men.
it means you are OK with women being raped and then stoned to death because the rape was THEIR FAULT.
it means you are OK with female genital mutilation- the removal of all or parts of a woman’s genitals so that she is incapable of experiencing sexual pleasure, and so that the man may be more adequately serviced and pleased.
All of these things are imposed in some form or another in every country where Islam takes hold. And if you think to yourself “That can’t happen here†do a little googling. All these things are already happening in areas of the USA.
No, not all muslims practice FGM. Not all muslims practice honor killings. But if you are OK with Islam, you are OK with anything any of them bring here.
As for all of those people with “Muslim friemds” who are “Just fine”, well, you have met the people. You have not seen the face if Islam. Bother to do some research, willya? If you don’t, then shut the fuck up. If you feel the need to change people’s hearts and minds about something you know nothing about, you are as bad as the assholes themselves.

Great post!
The fundamental difference between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam is that in Christianity and Judaism one has twist and bend the meaning of their holy texts to justify evil in their respective religion’s names.
With Islam, one has to twist and warp the interpretation of the Koran to NOT do evil in the name of Allah.
Islam is a stain on the face of the earth. It takes all that is wrong with religion and wraps it into one neat package. The problem being that while I believe that everyone should have certain freedoms, this religion would seek to conquer and take those freedoms from us.
The point at which my ‘live and let live’ attitude changes is when someone tries to force acceptance of their ideology, whether by use of Political Correctness (via ISNA or CAIR) or by force upon me.
As with a lot of groups, there are individuals who are fine, but the group stinks on ice.
If Muslims want to truly be the religion of peace then those who do not obey all parts of the Koran and are appalled by honor killings, suicide bombings, and ignorance need to stand up and police their own like those of other faiths do. If they do not, then they are culpable.
Napalm, not just for breakfast anymore.
Noticed Roberta did’t allow comments on her rebuttal. Says more about her than islam. in my mind. Since they have instituionalized lying and all.
Roberta is a friend, and a very decent person. I would LOVE to know why she does not understand this, but i cannot get that far. I hate to think her mind is closed on the subject but she will not discuss except to paint muslims as victims, which they are demonstrably not. I don’t get it.
Here’s how Og.
Victimogues are very clever. I think it must be clear that they know how to arouse the mother instinct (in women and metrosexuals) to protect the alleged victims just as demagogues know how to arouse a mob.
Since you’re repeating arguments from the past, I’ll take the liberty of reposting a few of my arguments from the time: The problem is not Islam, per se. The problem is:
1. People chose to live the worst aspects of that faith (bringing the worse elements to fruition), and some do not (far too few). But those who choose badly would do that regardless of the religious Book they chose to follow. “It is the hearts of men that must revolt.” And when/if the followers of Islam choose to reform their own hearts, then Islam will be reformed with them. Christianity would be perverted in their hearts and used as a sword, because is the people themselves who are perverted.
2. Islam must reform, just as Christianity reformed. It has in the minds of some, but not all (see #1), but so rarely, it seems absurd to mention it.
It is a circular argument, but the entirety of history is full of groups of people choosing to purge evil from their hearts, or having it purged for them. That’s what it has been about forever.
We see Christianity bastardized in Africa where, for example, Catholic priests rape virgin nuns in the belief that it will cure them of HIV/AIDS. We see aberrations of it in South America with the infusion of local witchcraft. But with Christianity, those aberrations are so rare that we dismiss those who do those things as kooks. It is POSSIBLE for that purging of the “old ways” to happen with Islam, if people choose to make it so.
Religions are bent and twisted to justify the actions of a given people’s desires. The aspects they choose to champion through their religious dogma and behaviors are a reflection of themselves, not the other way around. If people don’t want those horrid things you list, they wouldn’t choose a religion that championed it, or they’d reform it the religion to jive with their hearts, in the same way Christians abandoned Spanish Inquisition-like behaviors. Christianity has reformed so much from its inception (or, perhaps restored to its root message) that we tend to forget it had its dark days, when it was used as a weapon by the unscrupulous to impose (using the banner of God as their justification) a life of misery on all but the very privileged.
I don’t know if Islam can be reformed, but I know that those who follow it can, if they choose to. If they do not choose to reform, at some point, we’ll have to put them down, as we might put down a rabid dog.
I don’t think a Judeo/Christian-based culture, like our own, can make these types of hard/soul searching choices without offering a chance at reformation FIRST. It is their choice:
1. Reform.
2. Perish.
The Bush Doctrine is/was that test, but few really understood the options. Either Islam will reform and leap into the 21st century with the rest of us, or its most extreme fundies will be forced to perish from the earth.
Obama was the first (significant) response we have from the American people–of their willingness to put meat behind the threat, see through the long fight, or they failed to truly understand what is at stake, at a juncture when it would have spared millions of lives.
“We will not waiver. We will not falter. We will prevail.” seem like empty words today… but not because they were wrong or misguided, but because we, as a people, lack the stomach, wisdom, or the courage to see it through.
I can’t disagree with the need for reform, but the missing bit is the core of Islam. As has been pointed out, at the heart of islam, nothing need be twisted to do evil, evil is commanded. Nowhere are priests commanded to rape, but the Koran is loaded with commands to inflict evil on nonbelievers.
By the way, Mrs D, an honor to have you in the house.
I think the problem is indeed with Islam itself. Not with all Muslims (as individuals), for sure. But with Islam itself.
