Mmmm. Marmite.
Been out for a couple of weeks while I waited for an opportunity to get back to World Market.
A holiday breakfast of marmite on toast, a perfect three egg omelette, a couple rashers of bacon and some cheese.
Yum.

Damn! You still have World Market(s) out your way? You lucky bastard!!! Ours closed down just about a year ago. *Sigh*, was where I used to get my shortbread cookies, and various spices, and assorted wines, and other goodies not readily available elsewhere in these here parts (all together now … ROCKFORD SUCKS!).
I LURVES me some World Market.
Where I used to live there was one 2 miles from my house. Now, I’m not even sure if there’s one in the city. I need to go find out. Used to love that store.
Hah! My Marmite comes in 250 gram jars direct from Jolly Old. All I need do is send my friend there the odd packet of American Coffee, Folger’s preffered. There’s also a Cost Plus nearby that stocks Marmite although in 125 g. mini jars and Vegemite, the Ozzy pretender. Vegemite is an acceptable, though pallid substitute if I find myself out of the “Real Thing” tm. Why no one here makes and packages Marmite is beyond me. Perhaps the five of us nationwide who actually eat it is an insufficient customer base.

I bought a small container of Vegemite. Vegemite bites goat groin.
Guy, move back to Texas. We got way better stores than World Market, but we have those too if ya feel so inclined.
In the meantime, Us the folks.

It’s where Kelly buys all of her spices from.
You’ve gone and made me hungry! NOM!
Dick, I’m so glad you posted that link. Last blogmeet I went to Uncle Jay (aka The Big Guy) mentioned it as a source for Asian peppercorns and lo and behold, there they are! Thanks!
I like Trader Joe’s myself. Small, cheap, fun piratey theme — and wicked good goat cheese.
I’ve heard that Marmite is (literally) death on toast, but I’ve never tried it. I’m willing to try it, but I’m not sure I can justify getting all spendy on something I may end up feeding to the cat so I can put her reaction on YouTube.
The cat would not eat this.
Marmite has the consistency of warm road tar. It has the tenacity of honey. It tastes like thick salty soy sauce, a little. next time I come down I’ll bring some.
I can get behind a thick, salty soy sauce. Sign me up for the tasting committee.
As far as cats go, though, mine ate a good chunk of a butterhorn roll on Sunday, so I think all bets are off.
