I haven’t seen it, and won’t. I don’t have to, I’ve seen “Dances with Wolves”. Vman has what is probably the most perfect review. Steve does a typically remarkable job here.
Why in the world do people- like James Cameron- people who have the money and power to do anything and everything they want, no matter how moral or illegal- feel they can dress up a tired and demonstrably wrong message with megabuck special effects and somehow that will make it true?

I think Ace of Spades pegged it when he called it “Dances With Smurfs.”
I won’t go see it; it looks like the movie equivalent of jingling your keys to keep a baby happy.
Why?
Why did these same people vote for Obama? White liberal guilt.
Because they live in(and on) Hollywood.
It was entertaining. That’s all the reason I need to visit a cinema.
Entertaing is a good thing for a movie to be, certainly, but it’s not enough if I’m going to be smacked with the wet carp of policital correctness every other scene. Wall-E, for instance, was beautifully done, and the robots were super cute — but the story itself was so dark and depressing that I found the overall experience unpleasant. It’s the only Pixar movie I wouldn’t spend money on again.
Fiona, you enjoy the entertainment for it’s own sake, and you’re smart enough not to get caught up in the ‘Military/corporations are evil” bullshit. And that’s a good thing. For myself, I’m not entertained that way, so the “message” just annoys me. Like Joanna says about “Wall-E”. Not all humans are fat lazy pieces of shit, and the corporations do more to advance civilization than anything else ever could. “Want to send a message?” Sam Goldwyn famously said:”Use western union”.
Og,
Here’s a review that you’ll really enjoy (if you haven’t read it already. It couples the movie very nicely with the Liberal malaise that has infected this country (and western civilization):
The Suicide Fantasy

I’ll swipe it from the net, then not bother to ever see it. Go figure.
No interest whatsoever in the recent gurgling gurgitations from Tinselgrad, no matter the technosphere. I can skip Theater – I worked there for the longest, head-troubling time.
DirtCrashr, Tinselgrad is an excellent name for Hollywood. It’s even better than my previous favorite, Hollyweird.
