In “The Bathroom” by Alexander Kira (no crapblogger worth his salt should be without this tome) old Alex shares with us a simple but relatively unknown truth: A woman, bending over wiht her hands on her knees, can piss about four feet or more straight back. A man, on the other hand, cannot piss further than between his own feet, unless he uses his hands. (Some men can begin to urinate with an erection, but the process of urination usually kills the erection) So don’t get in a pissing contest with a woman, if you can avoid it.
Tam gets her feathers ruffled a bit by this post at TJICistan, and I don’t, frankly, blame her.
The demise of our nation may correlate to the arrival of women voters to the scene, but that didn’t “Cause” it. What ‘Caused” it was a bunch of politically illiterate people voting. And that’s just wrong.

Discrimination is the process of making fine distinctions. The word originally meant to choose carefully based on a specific set of attributes. To discriminate means to pick something because it is better suited.
And you’re damned right I’m intolerant. I’m intolerant of fucktards, and I will continue to be so. Not only are there a lot of people who deserve no tolerance, but if you believe ‘Everyone” has a right to be tolerated, you’re an idiot, and I don’t tolerate you either. Examples:
Child molesters. There seems to be a 100% recidivism rate. No tolerance.
Christians who aggresively proselytize: Most of them have no concept of the meaning of Christs Words. No tolerance.
Muslims: Islam in it’s very nature proclaims it’s evil intent. No tolerance.
People who believe in Global warming: Idiots. No tolerance.
I know in my heart that you should have to have a reasonable understanding of the political process before you are allowed to vote. I know you should have a reasonable bullshit detector before being allowed to vote. And if we had that process in place and that process alone, we would have no more democrats, and no more RINOS. We might have some idiots, but we wouldn’t let them go for very long before we replaced them.
Everyone has to jump through hoops and be treated like criminals because Muslims want to blow shit up. Simple fix, really: Muslims don’t fly. Keep ’em on the ground. They don’t like that? Let them fix this problem and prove that they have fixed it. intolerant? Sure. I have the inalienable human right to be intolerant of people who have demonstrated their desire to harm me. Discriminatory? You betcha! unfair? Why is it fair that the law abiding 99.99999999 percent of air travellors must be treated like crap for the .00000001 percent of splodeydopes?
Sorry. This is the solution. I will probably never see it, but it’s the only thing that makes sense.
Saying that we have issues because women vote is bag-of-hammers dumb. We have issues because the bag of hammers dumb vote. There may be a lot of them who are women, but there are a bluejillion of them who are men. Get those idiots out of the voting pool.

Really. If you see a good looking guy and he’s dumb as a pile of walnut shells, by all means, fuck his brains out, but don’t have his children. If we could just stop more stupid people from being born we could end ignorance in three generations.
Pascal urges me to amend this to read: Do procreate, if possible. I know it’s tough to find decent men but keep at it. Parenthood is definitly worth it, and while not everyone is cut out for it, smart people have to have children. We are being overrun by the marching morons.

Unfortunately the education system by design plays a very large part in creating the ignorant proles. Personally I like the idea of proving you understand the issue at the polls combined with proving that you file/ pay federal income taxes.

I also agree with Pascal. Intelligence does not appear to be a recessive trait. Dumb parents can have smart kids. Seen it happen all the time.

God please tighten up the voting requirements since at the moment the only requirements for somebody fucking up my life in a voting booth is that they be 18 years old, a citizen [maybe], and warm [except in Chicago]. I kinda like Heinlein’s proposal that you solve a quadratic equation before the voting booth turns on. Hell just do long division that’ll weed out a gross.

Only people who pay income taxes should be allowed to vote. And everyone should pay income taxes. Even the wino in the cardboard box or the welfare mom should have to pay something, even a token $10. It’s called buy-in, and it rids us of a lot of the take-from-thee-and-give-to-me mentality.
I like V-mans “buy-in” idea. RAH also had the right idea in “Starship Troopers”. Both of the above are working on the same part of human nature; “A thing only has real value to an individual if they have some sort of vested interest in same (be it real or perceived, it still needs to be there).
And by all means, if there is a way to get “Teh Stupid” out of the voting pool, let’s find it as soon as possible (if it isn’t too late already).
I agree with the taxes. Have been thinking that for a while. You have to provide a 1040 that shows you paid some taxes ( not counting sales taxes ) into the machine that spends them. Real tax on real income. No bonds, stocks, or daddy’s pile.
That should weed out the 50 or so million that have voted us into this mess.
Velociman and Paul B hit on the origin of the original voting laws where only property owners were allowed to vote. They had a dog in the fight: they were impacted by the laws they passed, and were more likely to live longer in the state in which they owned property than transient renters.
Now you have whole groups of people who vote Dem because it’s cultural. The Catholic vote went for Obama because Catholics are supposed to since the GOP is all WASP Protestants, and the Dems gave us Al Smith and John Kennedy, even though O’s diametrically opposed to any and all of our beliefs. We’ve all seen the news clips of people happy that now Obama’s in, they don’t have to worry about their car payment or utility bill anymore.
I’d also give the vote to veterans who not only served, but were present in a theater of combat. Bring the DD 214 and duty station orders, and bingo.
I don’t get the “Catholic vote going for obama”. Twice in this thread. I know a couple of so-called catholics who voted Obama, but voting Obama excommunicates a catholic. And most of them knew that.

As for franchise to vote, it should be even more restrictive: If you are a net taxpayer – you vote. If you are a net tax-receiver – no vote for you.

I think maybe the difference is between Catholics (like you and my aunt, who could give the Pope a run for his money) and “catholics” (glorified Christmas/Easter types who go to mass for the same reason they vote democrat — it’s what Daddy did). I imagine there are a lot more of the latter type out east and in major urban centers.
Much simpler to just limit the field of candidates for elective offices. It doesn’t matter who votes them in, they don’t respond or listen to the electorate anyway. So since were talking sooper dooper pie in the sky solutions, I say no lawyers can run for any office, period. Take a second and think about that. No lawyers. How about some farmers, plumbers, cops, librarians, and such on the ticket. At least common sense would be available come election day. If the lawyers were eliminated, we could all throw darts at the ballot while blindfolded and be light years ahead of where we are now.
