In the Anglo-Catholic tradition, we are still in Christmas. It is the 10th day of 12, ending on Epiphany.
The tale is told that the Magi came to see the Christ child on Epiphany, on Twelfth Night. And when they knelt to pay him homage, his divinity was clear. And, according to St. Matthew, “King Herod and all of Israel trembled.”
Yessir, “that long dreadful climb back to the light”…It is a good thing that there is a light to guide us. That is the Light of God’s son, of Christ.

I posted my response more as a reminder to m’self that God’s still in charge, no matter that “the darkness around us is deep.”
I’m already noticing more sunlight in the morning and evening and appreciate it.
Where’s that damn global warming though? Someone tell Al Gore to go back to Europe. Wait, that’s a good idea even if he doesn’t take the cold and snow back with him.

I don’t mind the dark nearly so much as the cold. It’s 10:41 pm and -1 degrees here right now. Later in the week it’s supposed to get really cold. C’mon, spring!
