The youngest genetic hostage here is finishing up 8th grade (homeschooling). Yesterday I found the tie he wore when his mom and I got married, a small clip-on with tasteful little Elmo heads adorning same. Naaaa, it couldn’t have been that long ago, could it?
I am still waiting for the phone call; “Dad, your new grandson has your eyes …”, now that will send the graying of the hair into overdrive, while misting the glasses to no end.
Well, it *is* a wedding song … although the perspective is unusual. All I know is, my dad made me stop picking it out on the piano when I was a kid because it got him all teary. What with him having daughters and all.
It really does go fast. One day I’m a single woman with a career ahead of me, and a mere 20 years later I’m a grandmother. ACK!! Now I have 10 grandchildren, the next to youngest of whom just turned 8 three days ago. I’m tired. I think I’ll take a nap.

Nice story, Joanna. Sounds like you had a nice dad. :)
Well, it started last time I saw ya at my house.
(runs away hysterically laughing)
Just wait –it will soon be your granddaughter.
My twins started high school this year, which was wierd, since when I went downstairs to check my emails 5 minutes ago, they were 8 years old.
