Blog quote of the day
from Tam, regarding the possible futures we await:
“fighting corpse-eating rats over cans of Van Camp’s in the weed-choked rubble of a balkanized America.”
As a kid, I read “Daybreak, 2250 AD”* over and over and over again, thinking, how cool would it be to be a savage sifting through the rubble of a lost civilization looking for bits you could use to defeat the Beast Things. Never thought it would actually happen, though.
*”Star man’s Son”, by Andre Norton.

read that one too. Lived on SF back when it really was. No, I thought we would get here by the work of a third party. Not from our own follishness and gullibility. Not ours, but you get my drift.
The only ray of hope I can see is that even though this monstrosity is law, it had not as yet been funded.
If we can really turn it around next cycle and the people we elect really do what we want, ah who am I kidding…we are truly screwed.
Discovered Heinlein in the 5th Grade, his so-called juvenile series and never looked back.
I’m with Paul on the funding.
Out here on the high plains there is a deep rumbling unrest just below the surface. I’m not sure what will happen when it erupts. I do know it ain’t gonna be purty.
