GIANT
is on TCM. One of Rock Hudson’s finest movies, maybe his finest. Certainly a showpiece for Hudson, Taylor and Dean.
Hard to watch the whole damned thing, sometimes. Great acting, great casting, a great story. Pardon me while I stare at Film the way it used to be.
Update: it may be that I’ve been hit in the head too many times, but the talents of these people can still bring tears to my eyes. It’s amazing to me how talented they are, and how the emotions come off the screen like a banquet for you to enjoy, if you are paying attention.
Awesome movie except that it is over three damn hours long and not as riveting as a LOTR.
However the acting is great and James Dean kicked ass…To bad he couldn’t drive.

Flew into Alpine in a friends Mitsu MU2 many years ago while hunting out that way. Landed in the middle of the road and taxied to a store. Filled up with 92+ octane and ethanol, cased lots. Flew out the same way, but he barrel rolled it a few times after takeoff. One guy who had never flown with him shit himself and cried all the way back to camp. Then the F-15’s showed up to shepherd him in the right direction.
