Does anyone know
where I can find a decent borelight?
I have had the Hoppes one, which is the purest shite. I have a small Remington LED light which is semi-OK, though sometimes too bright. I saw an LED light at Cabelas the other day, and it had 9 LED’s. I cannot IMAGINE how much fun it would be to have NINE LED’S MELTING MY RETINAS. Partner routinely carries an LED/Laserpoointer combo with which we have both temporarily blinded ourselves.
Ideally, I suppose what I’d like to put my hands on would be a bulb type with a rheostat that could be adjusted, and possibly even with colored filters. I know that I find it easier to look at stainless or chromed barrels with a little bluish light, while orange seems to be optimal for blued barrels. I have used the lightpipe that comes in the OTIS kits and it’s not bad, but it’s still not the best.
Probably a pipe dream, but if anyone has seen what I describe I would be indebted.

I use a 2 cell AAA minimag with a cap and fiber optic antenna (with a colored lens cap as needed). Works for me.

Furt, if I could find the light tube thingy I’d do that in a heartbeat, but I can only find the thin fiber thingy. I’d forgotten about the Maglite lenses, though.
Try a fiber optic cable (5mm?) from Home Depot(?) and a spark plug boot duct taped to the front of the minimag. Some alterations may be needed.

Damn. I may have to make this farging thing myself.
I must be truly old fashioned…
I still fold a business card in two and shove it behind the chamber, and aim the card at some light. The white card seems to work well for me.
I have yet to find a bore light that doesn’t overpower and hide flaws.

That’s why I want something that is uniform and controllable, Carteach. the business card thing isn’t bad but it’s inconsistent. Ambient light changes so much.
Libs, i’d love a bore SCOPE, but I’m just talking about a boreLIGHT.
Right now I’d settle for a Bud Light.
Was that a butt Light?
Maybe you could stick a light tube on one of these?
Rigel bi-color adjustable intensity LED flashlights
If you don’t need flex you can use cylindrical acrylic in place of fiber optics.
That, Mr Grouch, is the very closest thing I’ve seen yet! Bravo!!!!
I like to look in from the chamber end and have made little 45 degree mirrors patterned after the little GI green ones. I have one made from cpvc pipe wtih a oval shaped window with a slit behind it to hold a small mirror at the correct angle. Looks kind of like a bore guide. Seems easier to point the muzzle toward a light source and peep in from the end where you really want to check out anyway.
Another option anyway.
