Bites.I discovered the tractor has abadly flat front tire. Now I’ll have to wait probably a week. I have accomplished nothing I set out to do this morning, and it pleases me wonderfully.

An entire weekend of little to no accomplishment accompanied by several (or more) liquid refresments can be classified as an excellent weekend!
I never liked mowing the lawn. My opinion (NOT shared by my neighbors) was that God put the grass there, God could take it away. (works for snow too)
Enjoy your weekend.
We mowed the first time yesterday. There was construction on our street upgrading the sewage/drainage system. My front yard was torn up and covered by dirt. It’s now been seeded by the city and covered by straw. It’ll be thin this summer and I’ll now have to reseed next fall
I changed the oil (and checked the level), spark plug, and air filter in the Craftsman 6.75 hp BS engine. It would not fire until I pumped the primer 20 times, went for 45 minutes of it constantly dying five seconds after catching (got my cardio today), and when it finally warmed up to not quit, it hammered hard, and it started to smoke 2/3rds of the way through a tiny patch of medium tall grass. I even poured Sea Foam in the fuel a) before I ran it dry last autumn, and b) today with freshly bought fuel from the station this morning. Mutha fudge.

We mow with a push mower or a weedeater. The yard makes a postage stamp seem large. And it still doesn’t get done regularly.

Crikey, I didn’t even get half as far as some of you. The riding mower’s battery was deader than a doornail (barely 2 volts across the terminals), so I’m trying out one of those 555 timer-based desulfators to see if I can revive it. If not, a new battery is only $20…then there’s the “did the fuel stabilizer really work this season?” crapshoot…
100′, 12 ga cord for safe power, and mow a pattern that weaves away from the cord, and all is well.
We’ve had to mow since mid-January, but just this week finally put down 4 cubic yards of a soil/mulch/sand mix. This will be the first rejuvination of the yard since Ike soaked it with nearly 5 ft. of Gulf of Mexico.
I did save the young (8’)live oak tree, by the way. Lots of gypsum, daily soakings of 5 gal bucket of water all through last summer. One of those buckets per month was mixed with liquid plant food. It looks great now!
Today, I seeded the yard with 10 lb. of Bermuda seed. Doesn’t hurt that we got 1 inch of rain yesterday.
I am looking for a riding mower though, as Iris wants to do the summer mowing, but the heat kills her. I want to find one of those old, rear engine Snapper type mowers. They’re dangerous on hills, with their high center of gravity and tiny front wheels, but they’ll fit through the gate, and a 30″ cut isn’t “too little” for this small lot.
I get one of those mowers, I’m going to take it down to the frame, repaint and renew everything. Oughta be a fun project?
Heh: We will mow for the first time sometime this week. New battery last Fall, Battery Minder on it now, so it should be good to go. Diesel fueled, so that doesn’t go bad, and I change oil in the Fall, so nothing to do there, either. We mow a couple of acres, it takes me about 2 hours with the 60″ cut mower deck. Wife takes longer, but she mows more acreage.
First mow? I mowed our back yard for the second time already.

Hmmm…. No mowing up here in the Minnesota Tundra.
Carpets for me. Bleah….
Mowed 7 acres today. Yards were very rough. My back is killing me.
Last fall I put the front frame of my mower on blocks to keep the weight off the old, slowly leaking tires.
Worked great, didn’t have to re-seat the beads this year. Just filled ’em up and off I went.
