   I always thought it just hurt. Never really paid attention to the smell…Next time I guess.

   Try wearing work gloves. Burnt leather smells like …well…burnt leather. Long sleeves ain’t a bad idea either. Knew a backyard woodsman who felled and bucked up a dead tree in his back yard. It was covered with vines which unfortunately, weren’t ivy but poison oak. The skin from his elbows to his finger tips looked like it was boiling.
   Nasty.

    If a burn hurts, the source wasn’t hot enough, is what I say.

    Really hot stuff just leaves it white and dead.

    (If you’re lucky, like when I did that, it’s just a pinhead sized area… oddly enough, caused by a still very hot glass pinhead I’d put on a pin I was making.)
