Does anyone else notice the concurrence of the Won “allowing offshore drilling” and the mysterious assplosion of the oil platform? (Hint: Oil platforms are dangerous places, but only a stunning disregard for safety rules and a concerted effort NOT to be safe could cause anything like the kind of troubles they had)

I’d label it “Hmmm … interesting” and put it in the “Not big enough on its own to really suggest a conspiracy, but put it together with all these other incidents and it’s enough that I’m starting to wonder” file. It’ll fit nicely between the Toyota senate hearings and the Goldman-Sachs SEC kerfuffle.
My sick mind has turned over and over, the question about how such a large explosion could occur. Any fuel / air explosion demands a large volume, not readily available on an oil rig. Comp C4, not so much.
An event like this would supply all the negative information to end offshore exploration / drilling for a long long time.
Next question, which donor to the dimocrat party is heavily invested in “non petroleum” energy sources?
Hmmmm. Hmmmmm,,, Nahhh they’d never do something like that – – – – – – .
I bet it was that nonexistent torpedo from an invisible North Korean midget submarine.
A dumbass smoking where he shouldn’t have been is just as likely, though.
Rabbit: I’m assuming you’re from Texas. Gulf (mars) crude ain’t like texas crude, the flash point is over 140 degrees. Doesn’t even have a published explosive limit, upper or lower. I’d be willing to find a quart or so of it and a pack of smokes; if you can figure a way to turn that into an explosion, Ill get you a new bike.
No, this was not a crude oil explosion. I don’t think they do anything gasoline on a rig, I think everything runs on diesel. So there isn’t a preponderance of things that will easily explode. I’m very interested in this whole ordeal, and will be very interested in how it pans out.
I’m also interested in the way the feds have let it leak for a week while pondering their options, only to come up with Lets burn it!”
What could go wrong?
The explosion was indeed odd, given that gulf crude is about like freaking roofing tar. As Og said, what else out there can blow up?
Also, what better way to screw over those in the Deep South than to kill commercial fishing/processing and tourism? And no, I’m not saying it was intentionally done to screw them over, but it might explain the feet dragging. You’ll also note the eco-weenies that get in a froth over ANWR drilling don’t seem to mind this at all.
Right, Og. I grew up in the smack-dab middle of the biggest known (at the time) oilfield in the lower 48. I smell a rat, too; from what I’ve read on the whole deal, I don’t know how steel and sea water would go ‘splodey, because crude sure won’t go high-order.
I know they don’t have nearly enough bottled LP or propane on rigs to look like that. They even limit cutting/welding gases.
Best,
Rabbit.
Rabbit, we may never know, but anyone with a little knowledge has to smell a rat.
I’ve been smelling a dead rat ever since that idiot got elected. Clintons are the dirty tricks crew. Now that they have the cover of the press all hell can and will break loose.
Buy bullets, we will be needing them soon.
fuckfukcfuckfucketyfuck.
When I posted my first entry on this, I popped off with the absolutely weirdest, off the wall crazy moonbat concept I could think of. That was on the 28th.
For that, I offer my most profound apologies.
Why? Because someone obviously found it and the gorram thing grew legs like a fuckin’ millipede in sneakers.
Either I’m unintentionally telepathic or I’m gonna change my fucking name to Cassandra.
Me, I don’t believe any of it.
