Another damned seat belt ticket
Good thing there aren’t any serious crimes being committed anywhere. God this bs is annoying.
Update: This is going to cause me to take action. I now have to go to length, expense, and aggrivation to make it look like I’m wearing a seatbelt.
yes, yes. I know, I could actually WEAR the seatbelt. But I haven’t done till now, and it is not my intention to begin.

“But it’s for your own good, you reactionary!”
Etc.
“It’s for your own good.” is semantically equal to “It’s for the good of my evaluation, and to raise revenue for the city/county/PD.”
FTMF
TBG
“It’s for your own good.†is also semantically equal to “Shut up and follow the rules, since Big Brother knows better than you, citizen.”
We’ve always been at war with Eastasia, too.
Wonder if you could sell your “pseudo seat belt” on the web, for big bucks (at least defraying the cost of the traffic ticket(s)).
My friend got out of a seatbelt ticket by telling the officer, flat out, that “it’s a personal choice.” The officer let it go.
I discovered that if you just slip the belt over your left shoulder it looks like you are wearing one. Tickets here in FL are $101.00…
Another law with no reason. As all previous commentors seem to agree. Too many victimless crimes already on the books. When do we put a stop the BS?
Luckily here in Ohio, seat belts are still a secondary law.
“It’s for your own good” always seems to fall into the same category as “It is none of my business, but…”
As we all know, Lazarus Long had this to say about that:
“The correct way to punctuate a sentence that starts: ‘Of course it is none of my business but–‘ is to place a period after the word ‘but.’ Don’t use excessive force in supplying such moron with a period. Cutting his throat is only a momentary pleasure and is bound to get you talked about.”
We’re friends. Wear the seatbelt for the kiddo.
End of sermon.
painfully, she’d probably be better off with the insurance money.
Yep, I giggled. Mine too.
Even if there were no law stating I must buckle up I would still do so.
Been in enough prangs to prove that they work. ;-)
Rob: I have been in quite a few car accidents as well. My experience is this:
1: Wearing no seatbelt: minor injury.
2: Wearing a seatbelt: Injury that involved hospitalization, CAUSED by the seatbelt.
Many years ago, I was foolish enough to get thrills from rallying, at night, on gravel roads. In my next to last major rallye, my car’s upper ball joint collapsed on a hard right turn, causing it to begin a roll. Fortunately, because of brush by the side of the road, it only turtled. But that still collapsed the a-pillar and brought down the forward part of the hardtop. Both me and my co-driver were saved by our 2 point LAP belts from being hit by the roof. The cross-over 3 point lap belts of current cars would have restricted our natural tucking reaction. Four and five point belts are what is used on tracks and would have been okay too. But you know what I think of Statist pols and their bureaucratic henchmen. They LOVE passing laws they CLAIM are out to save your life, but are really ways of coercing you into aiding your own demise. Tuck that shoulder belt behind you and stick with the lap belt, or get a four point belt.
Do you think a four or five pointer have caused you injury too Og?
Pascal, I would install five-point belts in the car in a new york minute. I am pretty sure it’s illegal in Indiana and Illinois to tamper wiht the original system.
Well then Og, maybe you ought to do exactly that. Install the 5 point and use it. You can still keep the old system in the car and simply engage it, and you haven’t broken a law. If any pidgeon tries to ticket you for using the better system instead of the dangerous one, you have a huge provable case of officious harassment — and you’d also be proving that they’re really out to kill us. LOL
Really, no traffic cop will ticket you for using the upgrade, so it won’t go that far — and you and your loved ones will be really protected. But getting them to use it — hmmm. Can YOU issue tickets?
