Deliver me from hatred
One of my greatest failings, and one of the things I have the most trouble with, is Hatred.
I work very hard not to develop hatred, and I am not always successful. When I do manage to accumulate some, I do my level best to shed it as soon as I can.
Hatred is a pair of blinders, a way your enemies (and darker forces) have of preventing you from thinking clearly.
THis is not the same as anger, though anger can have the same effect if you allow hatred to be involved. Anger should not, properly speaking, be an overwhelming force; I tend to think that if anger overwhelms it is because it has opened a door for hatred to enter.
I have never served in the military. Generations before me saw to it that it was unnecesary for my generation, though plenty of others have since. What I observe, and certainly, my observations are those of an outsider who has not been there, is that hatred is not an asset under fire.
What I do know its this: Whether hunting, or pest control, or slaughtering farm animals, it’s a job. I suspect it’s the same in the military, though as I say, I have no personal experience to relate in that manner.
There is a common theme among all who would not have us defend ourselves definitively, and it is “If we do X we become JUST LIKE THEM”
Well, if we do not do X, we become them. If we do not do X, our way of life is in some grave danger.
And it is specifically because of people who cannot envision doing a tough job when it needs to be done, people who feel the need to wait until hatred overcomes them before they can do a hard job. There is no room for hatred anywhere. There is neither room for believing that you must hate to stop someone from harming you or your loved ones. You have to do that dispassionately, because it is just a job, like making sure termites don’t eat your walls or rain doesn’t wash away your foundation. Do it and get on with your life. If you wait for hatred and anger and fear to give you a reason to act, you have waited too long, and the very hatred and fear and anger you espouse as the only legitimate reason to act will blind you and render you incapable of doing what needs to be done, when you need to do it. Just my .02

“If you wait for hatred and anger and fear to give you a reason to act, you have waited too long,…”
yea. This ties into the intemperance of Vengeance and Revenge.
When you think about this as a military tactic, you should realize that you are on the defensive, that you are reacting to his actions, that your antagonist has the initiative.
Very poor position tactically most of the time – especially if it is an ambush.
G_d tries to save us from ourselves by saying vengeance is his to mete out – and in his own time.

Wrath, anger, hatred… these should merely be placeholders in your memory to better understand your antagonist.
well reasoned. cold logic dictates early action against any group intent on killing you, enslaving your children, and destroying your way of life. quick vigorous overwhelming action with thorough follow-up is the way to avoid having to go back again and again.
infestation of ants in the house this morning. thought nothing of killing the whole bunch. my father says it’s the same with facists and communists. my neighbor says it’s the same with muslims. just have a good plan, be thorough, and get all the squirters. the threat continues with half measures. like draining a swamp, it’s aligators all the way down, and then they’re gone. and then the danger passes.
“Thus always unto to Tyrannts” is the Virginia State motto. Not to be like a tyrant; but rather to be free from tyrants.
I dunno, it kept me warm, housed, and fed during and after my divorce.
Remarkably, she still lives. Raw, naked hate kept me going until I got through that process, and I learned to release and go on.
Enjoyable post.
Another way of saying I agree with you, I guess.
Reminds me of someone a few years back, after hearing someone say “That bleep-” a bastard who’d been breaking, entering and assaulting in the neighborhood- “comes into my home, I’ll kill him”, the oh-so-caring idiot said, in shock, “How can you hate someone enough to want to kill them?”
She just could not(or would not) understand that hate had nothing to do with it: he was purely saying “I will defend my home and family by any means necessary” and she couldn’t wrap her liberal little mind around that. Which means if the bastard had entered her home, she and her family were screwed.
Hatred and anger are both way overrated by anyone affected. On the other hand, training, a goal, and being properly motivated, along with some quality intel will win every single time.
Almost biblical, Og, & all true.
Hatred blurs the senses, distorts emotion, & pumps the adrenaline- all to ill effect to the task at hand.
You’re soundin’ wicked smaht here recently…
Your $.02 is worth at least a full $1.00
I explained to my libtard neighbor that I do not hate Muslims or progressives any more than I hate rabid skunks or the Ebola Virus. All are dangerous and irrational, thus must be eliminated or neutralized. It may be an unpleasant job, but it is necessary. And there will be cause for celebration when it is completed.
