new toys
Finally got around to picking up some spare magazines for the Carbine. I bought half a dozen 15 rounders from CDT. At $6 apeice they were the best price around; I’ve got one rule about buying products from muddy asian shitholes, if I’m gonna be stuck with Korean magazines, I’m getting the cheapest functional stuff they make. These seem to be better than average quality, one of the guys at the club had several and they work just fine in mine. Only thing they lack is a hold-open, and I’m thinking I might be able to get replacement followers. Still be cheaper than the $20 each korean mags with holdopens. Should be here in a few days, hope to try them next weekend.

If it is an AR carbine….

M1 carbine, Thomas.
dhur, nevermind….
Are you in downstate Illinois? do you shoot at a gun club or do you own enough property to when you want?
I picked up some of the new-in-wrapper Korean mags from CTD for the little Kahr M1 I bought earlier this year. So far, they work ok. No significant problems to speak of. It even feeds and extracts ok.
Why would you want 5 additional magazines for the carbine? Myself, I just prefer to carry a little light sawhorse, and when attacked or threatened, I merely drop trou and bend over the sawhorse. it allows attackers easy access to my nether regions, and usually by the time they finish with me they’re too tired to do me any harm, and I can pull my pants up and escape with my sawhorse.
gonna have to get a drawstring on my asshole soon, though.
Troll Alert!
LOL! Dirt, watch and learn.
Nice.
Actually, Thomas, that’s a great link, thanks!!
Rabbit: Glad to hear those mags work OK.
Thomas F, If you live in central Illinois and are looking for a place to shoot or friends to shoot with let us know what town and I’ll direct you to the local organizations as a start. Otherwise look at the ISRA website at http://www.isra.org.
As I recall, the only GI mags with the hold-open were the 30-rounders. Offhand I can’t think of anybody selling the followers for those.
You might sacrifice one in a trial, basically all they did was mill the curve off the back of the follower bump- whatever the proper name is- so that it would catch the bolt and hold it open.
Hat Trick, I live on the line between Manhattan, Monee, Crete, I am looking at trying to join the Ex-line Gun/sportsman club.
og, if you need 7.62×39…..

I was looking at getting a case and I don’t even own anything in 7.62×39
Thomas F, You’re still in the south suburbs. You’re not all that far from the ISRA range. You might look into joining there if the Ex-line Gun/Sportsman club doesn’t pan out.
BTW, I’m down in Springfield.
Firehand, that’s a really good idea. I could just mill off the end of the closure ramp square. ASt first I thought it would break the mags, but now I think about it, the bolt hasn’t had a chance to build up any inertia at that point.
I may have to do some sperimenting.
CDT=cheaper than dirt? Have a friend with a carbine and I thought I’d pick him up a few mags. Thanks.
Yep. They seem to be better than average quality based on comments I’ve heard.
