Since 9/11 I’ve flown exclusively out of Midway, all of the places I’ve had to go being at the end of Southwest flights. I’ve gotten used to that, and am perfectly pleased with it. Tuesday I flew Northwest from OHare, and walked through the Orchard for the first time in at least six years.

Pitiful to say it, but the once crown jewel of North American Airports is now the redheaded stepchild, the aging crack whore, while Midway, the once greyhound-bud-station flavored terminal is actually quite modern and nice. Lo, how the mighty have fallen. Gonna be even more fun when Dickey Daley adds the runways to O’Hare for which he’s busy condemning people’s ancestral homes.
