“Most of what I do cannot be done on an Apple, the better engineering software etc. is written for PC only, and most of the software used to communicate with machine tools, PLC’s, etc. is written exclusively for PC.”
I think we do _some_ of the same things all. day. long…
Right now we’re working the Ottawa directories — easily the most massive French directories we do all year.
We’ve just been told our usual French translation resources are no longer available, and that they have not yet been replaced. We’ve been given text to copy/paste when dealing with sales reps.
We’re being flooded with late contracts, each of which has to be worked individually in two different systems, taking time away from other, more pressing issues.
We’ve also been informed that a third of the project is due tomorrow, and that our manager sees no reason why it shouldn’t be ready then. We just got the report yesterday. There is no earthly way we can finish on time, and the system is falling down around us. We will be blamed for the meltdown.
And my annual review is this Thursday.

Gizmo: Looking at your website, I expect you’re correct. I intend to make some purchases from you as soon as I have some spare scratch.
Hmmm… you sound like my Dad. Mebbee that goes with the whole marriage thing.
One bite at a time. Don’t fill up on bread.
Huh. I feel the exact same way. Exact. Same. Way.
And given your earlier comment:

Og: Thanks – if/when you order, say hi. The message will get to me.
Reading some of your past blogs leads me to understand your work a bit better. You “live in interesting times.” :-)
