Ed Hering and Mr B and Midwest Chickand I, all went to Naptown for the Indy 1500.

Ed scored some new magazines for his pistols, including an original mag in perfect new condition. I scored me some very nice front sight blades for the Ari; the one on it had been peened around and filed on some, so it became too loose to trust. So I found a guy who had handsful of Lyman and Redfield blades, two of which I purchased- they’ll do the job nicely. I also got a sight hood for same, but it doesn’t fit so well as I’d hoped.

best deal, though, was to put my hands on two old, made in USA Uncle Henry 897 knives. This is the knife I like most, and enjoy using most, and these are in great condition. $20 each. He had some which were new in box, for which he wanted $65 each- I’m not collecting, I’m using, so the carefully used $20 ones are just fine. THis will keep me in knives for a year, I hope.

Oh, I also snagged a Made in USA “Liberty” case for the M1 carbine. It fits the carbine perfectly, and is everything I could ask for, including storage for the baynet, the 30 round magazine, and five 15 round magazines. I likes it extra fine.

We visited with Brigid, who is in a secret undisclosed location with a hornet, a pilot, and a bat. We went to lunch with her and had pie.

We then went to the Broad Ripple Brewpub and spent some time with Mr&Mrs&mrs Zambesi Shomes, Joanna, (who is looking more and more svelte all the time) The Jack, Tamara, Roberta, and several others whose names and or blogs escape me.

Ed seemed to survive the contact with other, more abnormal bloggers. Several people asked for brain bleach. The Prius did not self destruct.

I would have preferred- say, summer time. But it was a good day, in any event.
