Funshow!
Went tothe Valpo funshow with Partner and Ed. Good show, a couple very nice guns. I assume Obama gets a nice fat check from the major mfrs every time he makes noises about magazine bans etc. because the shows are nuts when he does.
There were several Krags, which Partner is a collector of; including one genuine carbine that had had the FRONT SIGHT HACKED OFF AND THE RECEIVER DRILLED AND TAPPED FOR A SCOPE. Some people should just be beaten.
There was an Arisaka that had been sporterized extremely well. I was impressed.
Nothing I could afford, of course. Nothing I wanted so badly I would work at saving the dough for. I keep thinking about buying a lower and having my very own AR. Nothing reached out and grabbed me.
Afterwards Partner, Ed and I went for a bite of lunch and spent an hour and change listening to the worst music ever.

Back when that carbine was sold off for $1.50 in the early 20th Century it was just another dirt cheap old rifle. It was treated much like that Arisaka you say is a really nice sporter.
Perhaps the guy who did that should be flayed alive and doused with battery acid. Or would a good beating suffice?

I share your sadness at the Krag butchery. I posted a picture of the one I bought a couple of weeks ago — a 6.5×55 from Norway. Dirt cheap and probably a good shooter, but restoring it to military condition is out of the question.
Gerry: The Krag is a mechanical work of art. The Arisaka is a butt-simple Mauser. I’m not happy to see any old military rifle sporterized, but there are more intact mum Arisakas out there (and there are damned few of them) than there were Krag Carbines made EVER.
if you’re going to do it, do it well. The Arisaka was done professionally, and it at least ended up a fine useful rifle. The Krag had been butchered by a guy with a hacksaw and a hardware store 8-32 tap. It’s the difference between putting a professionally hotrodded engine in an Escort, or a homemade plywood hood scoop on a 1964-1/2 mustang convertible.
Seen the scoup. Does look pretty cheesy. Remember one guy who put a ford 302 in a pinto. Made kind of a hot wheels kind of car.
I two attended a show yesterday. Cop at the door had all but run out of tags for guns coming in. Looked to be some traffic on pistols. We just legalized OC with a permit. Recommend to conceal, but not nessecary any more.
Had a cheap poly lower for an AR and some decent uppers but completes are out of site.
Check auction arms for Plum Crazy. He has a good price on AR lowers.
