Pascal sends me a link
to his site, where he’s showing a TED video.
me, I’m a little hesitant to reccomend anyhting by TED, the lot of those folks are liberal academic morons, so I distrust a good deal of what they have to say.
But:
if you don’t do anything else today, watch this.
And send it to your friends to watch.
And, knowing what you know after you see it, think of the inefficient, miserable system that the “Educators” in Wisconsin are working so hard to maintain.
Thanks, P. Edited to link back, sorry I forgot.

I have posted this great little video on my own website. I hope it gets passed around a lot.
Way the hell off topic, but a killer video of the Space Shuttle from a passenger jet flying by.
Hope things are going well for ya, bud.

Dude! Answer your dang mail! I been trying to find out how you’se doing!!
We’re all fine here, great to hear from you. Still obsessively check the link to your site, besides sometimes it has good links.
Been wondering about Big D myself. Interesting video.
I was at my sons 3rd grade conference and I was a little concerned that they seem to be working on things I did not see till 6th grade.
Interesting take on accents and linguistics at time = 3:00.
Kind reminded me of this video:
Patricia Kuhl: The linguistic genius of babies

(From your posted video):
“A teacher who can be replaced by a machine… should be.”
Wow. We are on the verge of another Renaissance.
Very fun lecture. Thanks Og (…and Pascal… could you post more frequently?)
Hi Dick!
Good to see you. :)
Big Dick!
Is the book almost done?
I’ve been posting more frequently Cond, just not as often as Og. What keeps me is that sometimes it seems what I’m posting ought not need to be posted.
Hey — I didn’t know you were a reader. Drop in a comment or two of your own.
I’ll try to comment, Pascal, though I think you may regret it. I’m sure Og and others have had their moments…
Muahahahahahahaa!!!
I share your skepticism regarding TED; but I thoroughly enjoyed the talk by Mike Rowe, of “Dirty Jobs” fame. His retelling of working with the sheep rancher is priceless, as are the lessons he learns.
Indeed, the Mike Rowe one is one of the best- though I got the feeling audience applause was directed at their pleasure that the little people were happy in their toil.
In this one, I fear the audience approval. I shuddered at one of their chuckles — when Dr Mitra told of Arthur C. Clarke’s “a teacher that can be replaced by a machine should be.” Clarke placed no stress on the character of whom was deciding who was to be replaced.
A machine cannot teach ethics beyond the mere listing of what ought be ethical. And that gets reshaped by those who program distant machines.
Watch out for the next generation of the Khmer Rouge or Green Bombers. Children self-taught is the warning of “Lord of the Flies.” Even worse if you then consider “what if the Granny provided is a Frances Fox-Piven?”
Witness comments above, so many who visit Neanderpundit, Og included, figure it may already be too late to counter that programming.
