I am
in my early fifties.
And I am cutting a wisdom tooth.
This is not news, I cut my first at seventeen, and my second in my thirties, at the same time my daughter was cutting HER first teeth. The fourth wisdom tooth apparently never showed up at all, but the third seems to be making it’s appearance. The pain is… Amusing.

My mother cut a wisdom tooth each time she was pregnant, the last one at age 38.
I’ve left all 4 in. Not even sure when they showed up, but I am sure that they didn’t help. I want my money back.
I’m your age, Og. This is very depressing on a personal level as I’ve got two “missing” wisdom teeth that never came in. Swell.
Are you gonna get it cut out?
The pain is helping me focus. And making me a bit more homicidal every day. I like it, so far.
The last one I had many, many years ago they had to break out part of my jaw bone to get it removed. Yes, it hurt. I can find the damaged part as I run my finger along my jaw line even now. Good reminder that things can always get interesting when you least expect it…

At 66 years of experience, I still have all 4 of mine. Clearly I have a full load of wisdom. That’s probably why I own an old Jaguar. (and I’m happy that a homicidal Og lives far away after that comment! LOL)

I had 4 wisdom teeth and two molars removed in the same day. Recovery was an absolute sumbitch. No general anesthesia, novocaine only.
Ouch. Could always try Ambesol or something unless you’re rocking the pain.
I have no experience with cutting wisdom teeth. Like Randy I had all four removed before they emerged and wrecked all the orthodontic work I’d suffered through. I opted for the local instead of the Valium IV and was reconsidering that choice when the mallet and chisel came out. Each tooth had to be split into four pieces to get it out. Felt like somebody was punching me from inside my mouth.
You’re lucky you don’t have to do that.
I’ve had wisdom tooth surgery — twice. Two in each session and I’m glad I’m done.
I hope they come and get yours soon. That’s some awful pain.

I had the two on the right side extracted under novocaine, then two weeks later the two on the left, which had curved roots. They looked more like tusks once they were out. For the second trip, the dentist had the foresight to give me a Tuinal before arriving in the chair. By the time I was all ready to go, I didn’t care if he winched them out with his tractor.
I did get plenty of sympathy from the girlfriend afterwards, and I think we broke a La-Z-Boy.
I had all four removed by an Army dentist when I was 19. Only one was giving me trouble, but he figured since he was in there, might as well just finish the job. After a while, I felt like Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man. “Is it safe?”
I suggest rubbing the effected area with bourbon or brandy, then washing the rest of your mouth and digestive tract with more of the same. Of course, that’s my cure for everything…….
