Like big band music?
Lke Frank Sinatra? you might just want to check out Michael Buble (pronounced boo blay).
Punk kid, with a set of vocal cords that make Sinatra seem like a piker. And, the arrangements are impressive as well.
Seems this Canadian kid is shopping his demo tapes all around, one falls into the hands of Brian Mulrooney, who asks him to come sing at Mulrooney’s daughter’s wedding, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The kid is gonna be hot, don’t doubt it. Imagine Harry Connick with talent and class.

Ouch.
I’m not kidding, Tanya. Give a listen.

Them’s plain fightin’ words.
Listen then judge.
BTW, a few (well, a lot) of years ago, and about 540,000 pall malls ago, I might have been an acceptable tenor. Not Lanza,of course, but I might have given that fat bastard pavarotti a run for his money. I remember what it was like to control your voice, and how much work it is, and I see that in Connick. Connick has worked very hard to have a “sinatra” type sound, and I won’t take from him that he has done well- but I hear the clarity of Buble’s voice, and the hooks in his music, and I have to say: this guy is a natural. Not a copy. If he’s careful and doesn’t fuck up those sweet pipes, he’s gonna be big, really big.
He certainly has the right team going for him. He’s managed by Bruce Allen — think Loverboy, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Martina McBride.
