One of the things
that has always helped me to keep my cool in difficult situations, was a bit of advice given me by a good friend of mine some time ago.
“A warrior” he said “Is measured by his adversaries”
Not that I’m exactly a warrior, mind you, but you get the point. I don’t suffer fools and I don’t engage trolls because I won’t be thought of as fighting on their anencephalic level. Those people I have chosen personally to rail against are worthy, and may well win.
But I’ll keep trying anyway.
Pascal reminds me that conservative/libertarian types tend to listen to the Rush Limbaughs and Michael Savages of the world, and think, ‘we have a voice, too” and look at things like the release of Atlas as some kind of a turning point in the movement.
I’m all for anything that brings more people to common sense, but at the end of the day, that is not what this is about, is it, Pascal? We’ve looked into the belly of the beast. My tinfoil notwithstanding, it’s a quite interesting perspective. What if the whole array of conservative/libertarian/wookie media is just an elaborate scam?

I’ve pretty much given up on the media, Og, when it comes to opinions.
I try to read the articles, break it apart into its component facts nad try to reassemble it to what fits my owns perspective – which tends towrds conservatism.
I AM dismayed and the Republican Elite these days. Krauthammer, Rove, and others seem to be speaking a language that I no longer quite understand. Its like invasion of the body-snatchers.
It is all the Matrix, my warrior friend. We’ve got the social engineering left on one hand and the one-issue voters on the other. If I can find a candidate that matches up about 75%+ to my way of thinking, it’s all good.
But it does seem, looking sideways, that the Republican elite (thanks cond) does seek to fail.
Eh. I listen to the radio folks a bit on my way to work (maybe 20 mins a day). About the only guy I really like is Roger Hedgecock.
Right now arguing about social issues is like bitching at each other over what color we want the curtains to be while the goddamn house is burning down.
Yes, “what if the whole array of … media is just an elaborate scam?”
Talk radio for sure is designed to fit conservative tastes. We tend to live and let live unless there is an open threat. We would not be conservatives if we were not slow to anger, or at least tend to contain ourselves after intermittent verbal outbursts.
So what happens when we hear talkers say what we have been thinking? We feel assured because
and so we calm down.
Talkradio can be, I think has been, soma for conservatives.
What lib ever changed his mind simply because you exposed his contradictions. Well, the Left — eg Pelosi — continues to repeat its lies no matter how many times talkradio exposes the lie. And meanwhile the GOP heads act as if nothing has changed. DAMNED SKUNCs.
