Went to a new dr last night
To see if he could do something with these hands.
The bell on my bullshit detector must have gone off 200 times. The clapper finally fell off. I think he took one look at my insurance provider and thought ‘New BMW”.
He was rubbing on the muscles in my forearm with some kind of plastic tool, and saying “Doesn’t ths hurt? Let me know when this hurts”. Compared to the way my hands normally feel? Not at all, bud. Not even a little.
Like usual, for lack of anyone in the medical profession with the ability to provide any meaningful help, I guess I just learn to deal.
he reccomended a series of “Muscle stripping” therapies where his assistant would- I dunno, dissect my arms like a frog? He wasn’t too specific on the point. Sounded like a very expensive massage, and no happy ending in sight.

Og — my cousin is a chiropractor in Merillville. Damn good one if I am any judge of such. Want his number?
I’m still not even remotely convinced this is a chiro issue but I might just to get another opinion.
Had a similar experience with an IT consultant this week.
Learned a long time ago to think of doctors as mechanics for the human body. And their version of ASE is politically corrupt.

That’s a well-known quack technique. The quackticioner rubs your arms with these metal tools, and that’s supposed to “break down scar tissue”. It is a very expensive massage.
If you have pain in your hands, I would strongly suggest seeing a neurologist. There could be pinches in the nerves or something else (I don’t do long-distance diagnosis.) If there’s nothing physically they can do, a pain specialist (who is either a neurologist or an anesthestatist) can work wonders.
Coincidentally, I just got back from seeing a new doctor about my thumb that got wrapped in the sewr snake a couple years ago. Lot of probing, flexing, questions, and a recommendation to take 200mg of motrin daily for a couple weeks and see if it helps.
I was amazed at the amount of time he spent with me.
Hope you get help with yours.
Muscle stripping?….
Really?
Was this guy really a chiropractor? I’ve been to chiropractors twice. They had zero effect.
Some people swear by them. I have no faith.
I would go to a good general practitioner and ask him for a recommendation. Or find out where the ER doctors drink, buy them a beer and ask for advice. I’d recommend my GP but I’m in California… for now.
My regular dr is a board certified internist. He’s very good. he suggested a hand sturgeon who I visited last year. He saw me for a few minutes, and told me to take an expensive test. Never did.

There’s a familiar story now…
Have you been checked/treated for peripheral edema?
I started getting pains in my hands and feet a few years ago. They got worse over time and I couldn’t figure out why. It got so bad I was experiencing peripheral neuropathy. Then I started getting blood pressure spikes.
Finally it was obvious that it was excess fluid in the limbs.
Checked, yes. No issue there, the issue seems to be more one of inflammation and nerve damage/pinching.
