Two times this year
I left the house without a pocketknife. It’s starting to piss me off, I would just as well leave the house without an ear! it’s not as if I’m forgetful, I frisk myself before i leave the house to make sure I’m properly provisioned, but wednesday i used my knife in the garage before leaving and set it down. And now can’t find the verdammt thing, and have had to switch to a backup.

Victorinox Swiss Army knife.
Don’t leave home without it.
:-)
Had that happen a couple of times recently too. Once I realize, I just feel naked. The worst part the most recent time was going back to look for it and finding it stuck in the workbench where I had left it to make sure I didn’t forget it!
Senior Moments suck. Real Men feel naked without a knife.
My all time favorite is the Old Timer 89OT “oh not zero”. The old ones made in America of high carbon steel. The new ones are made of stainless by slant-eyes in some far-off God-forsaken place. The serrated blade has gently radiused points that cut through rope and rubber hose like butter. Serrated blades with sharp points don’t usually work worth damn.
Out of curiosity, what knife do (did?) you carry, Og?
I carry-have for years- a schrade 897 uncle henry. Liked the carbon ones but difficult to find. Still a lot of stainless made in usa ones at gunshows, I keep buying when I find them.
I rarely leave the bedroom without a knife. When I leave the house I have a knife and a way to make fire. In the back of the truck is a knife and several ways to make fire (plus some other stuff). I’m getting old and I no longer have the physical resources to “wing it” if the unexpected happens. I would have a firearm around at all times if I weren’t living in the people’s republic of CA. That will be fixed in 3-4 years.
I used to carry a Benchmade Mini Griptilian, but it proved to be unreliable. Now, I carry a Schrade 340T Stockman (carbon steel blades) and, to protect against the eventuality that you describe in your post, I have a Victorinox Camper in my briefcase and a Leatherman in the car. I hate being without a knife.
Slash: There’s usually a leatherman in the car, but they play hell on jeans, and I never manage to keep the thing in the leather sheath. I have the Swiss Army Mongo megatool in the desk drawer at work, but i see I need ot keep another knife in the car.
That’s a medium stockman, right? Shepherd Hills Cutlery has a lot of Case product of that pattern, both in stainless and Case’s old Chrome Vanadium (CV) carbon steel; you can get a yellow Delrin-handled CV model for $35 and change.
Last night I got a last-minute call in to work; got there and found I’d forgotten my phone and wallet, but the knife was in my pocket.
Kind of the way you find pants don’t fit right if there’s not a holster in them, isn’t it?
I need to keep spares around of several different things. One time, I even got to work without my belt, fer cryin out lowd.
I often go out without my penis.
I can hardly be blamed, the puny fucker is impossible to find on a good day.
Question: My breath smells like goat shit. Any idea why?
Robert: I have that Case knife in Bermuda green- it’s my “Good” knife, that I pocket when I’m dressed up or wearing a suit. It’s a very nice knife. When i can no longer find used Made in USA Schrades, I’ll switch to the case. My personal preference is for the carbon steel, but the old Case Chrome Vanadium are very nice as well.
