Over my shoulder
I see the Queen’s plane landing in Ireland.
I have some real irish friends. I know a little about the history. This is a lot more historic moment than that damnedfool wedding a few weeks ago.
The honor guard look a bunch of slackers, though. I guess you get spoiled watching the Marine Corps Silent Drill team.

Og, your link to the Marines Silent Drill Team brought back memories of my participation in Naval Recruit Company 903’s Silent Drill Team when I was in boot at Great Lakes, IL.
We were the first silent drill team at Great Lakes in some 20+ years. I kinda wish I had some film of that time in my life.
Thanks for linking that up.
Our boys & girls are still the very best, if you ask me.
My thought was: “She’s got Charles and William lined up to replace her. Why not go visit Ireland.”
They were saying on the news tonight that the security measures for the Queen’s visit far outpace what they’ll provide for Obama’s upcoming visit.
Irish Republicanism is a subject that just makes my blood boil.
The Queen paying “respects” at the memorial to those who have fought against English rule was insulting and laughable.
Americans seem to forget that the Scottish and Irish have been resisting the yoke of English rule for a long, long time now. Security is so high because she’s the first English monarch to dare step foot in the Republic of Ireland for 100 years because the English are so roundly hated and despised.
England occupies the 6 most Northerly counties of the Republic of Ireland. They gain nothing by doing so – no real export, just tax money.
The Days of Empire and Rule Brittania are over, honey. Grrrr.
