One of the many issues
I have with hot weather is not being able to wear nice socks.
Oh, I have good Made in USA cotton socks from Cabelas, but I LOVE wool socks. I love the feel of them, the way they feel inside my shoes, the thickness of them. If I wear them in the summer, my feet smell like a dead sheep. Dogs run up to me and try to roll in my shoes.
It’s gone from 88 (Yesterday) to 61 (today) so I’m wearing woolies to mass/breakfast. Might be my last chance this year.

Go for it. Life is meant to revel in.
Its the little things. That’s what I keep telling the wife.
I like heating up the kitchen with waffles and bacon on the weekend. THAT I miss when the house is still 80 degrees from the day before (yes I have AC, I’m also a cheapskate).
I would recommend the six pacs of cotton tube socks from the Red-Wing store. I have been wearing them for about 30 years here in FL and in other not so nice places. They hold up very well, even in the hotel washing machines in China.
You might look into the SmartWool socks. They were targeted at the cycling market when they first came on the market fifteen years ago. They’re thinner than typical wool sock and are supposed to have better moisture wicking properties than cotton. They claim to keep your feet cooler even in hot weather.
I got my wool socks from my oldest sister who knit them for me. And yes they rock.
Joe, that’s a nice sister, you got there. Especially since you have more “Special needs” feet than most of the rest of us. “Normal” sized people don’t get how difficult it is for us to get by.
You’re telling me She did traces of my feet – just like In January I ordered full custom cowboy boots(first place I found that didnt care about how wide I wanted they said they could fit it) They should be done this month… and I only have to pay another 650 bucks(the other 75%) i just really hope they fit right. On a side note I found a shoe place in IN that will do custom boots(workboots) for ANY width :-)
88? Ah, a cool spell.
Hey, TB? Come here and say that.
88 plus 80-90% humidity is not cool. Nobody who lives in the south has a clue what oppressive weather is until thye’ve lived here. No, it doesn’t get as hot as it does in some places, and there are places that also have high humidity and high heat, but those places don’t also have -30 degrees for three months at a time, too.
Southerners are weather pussies, plain and simple. ;)
No offense, Og, but I’m smart enough not to live where it gets that cold. The steel holding my leg together doesn;t tolerate cold very well.
It’s been hot & extremely humid here–we’ve been breaking 80-year-old records.
FWIW, when we can afford it, the wife & I are moving to Florida, where she’s from, & I’ll never even have to see another snowflake. I hate that shit.
By the way, I was being facetious with my original comment. It can be miserable here, too, at 88 & 85-90% humidity–it’s just been awhile since the highs were that low.
lol.
Budd, you can have ALL of Florida. I wouldn’t take it if you gave it to me.
Hey!
We in Minneapolis were #1 in the country yesterday with 102 Deg F.
Beat even the Southwest.
Plus the Humidity.
“No offense, Og, but I’m smart enough not to live where it gets that cold.”
Too smart for temperate weather, but not smart enough to stay out of Florida, hm? ;)
