Fear my Google fu.
The first apps job I’ve been given is to set up a machine with two existing fixtures and run some test cuts on it.
before I could even hang the fixtures I found a problem: the fixtures are drilled and counterbored for 1/2′ bolts and the mounting surface has 16mm bolt holes.
Now, lest you have to drag out your calculator, 16mm is bigger than 1/2″, the bolts won’t even go through.
BIG problem. We cannot alter the fixtures, and to have a new set of tables made for the mill could take months. So I do a little digging.
The bolt pattern on the fixture should still work, with a little finagling. And I find a company that has threaded bushings that are 16mm on the outside and 1/2″-13 on the inside. They are made by a customer. And carried by Fastenal. Who will be delivering a box to me first thing in the ayem.
Crisis, averted. Hooah.

THIS is why you got that new job assignment — because you get things done.
(I expected no less. I bet your bosses feel the same way.)

Sounds like this ain’t the first time this particular problem has come up.
So, did they come in on time? And what new issues cropped up? Like the pitch was wrong or something.
Nope. All worked, all was OK.
Good. Murphy musta been satisfied for a change — or maybe scared witless seeing you on the scene.
