I gots a graffe too!
Since it seems to be the thing of the day, here’s a giraffe picture I took in Mpika.

It was drizzling, and the sound of the rain must have masked our approach, but even when they realized we were there they just stared at us and kept eating. The biggest female got between us and the colt, eventually, but took her sweet time.
Here’s the colt.
The closest we got was about 20 feet. That was plenty close enough for me because I’ve seen them fight.
Things that get kicked by giraffes tend to stay kicked, or so I’m told…
Less the kick than the head, which they use like a battering ram.

But those hooves were plenty formidable too.
The baby’s cute, but that first pic is stunning! Great light, and her coloring is gorgeous.
Saw some video from Kenya(I believe) on a reserve, guy sitting on a fence eating a sandwich. Giraffe came up, leaned over and around his shoulder to sniff it; guy pushed him away. Did it again, guy shoved him away. Giraffe disappears from frame for about three seconds.
Then his head swept in from the guys’ right and slammed him sideways off the fence. Should’ve let him have that sniff
