Many thanks
to reader Professor Hale for the fire control group he sent me for my new Black Gun. This was infotaining, as it showed that the hammer I received had skipped a manufacturing step. The other revelation was the difference in quality of the parts- the MIM I got in the kit was obviously lowest common denominator. The stuff P Hale sent was very nice indeed.
Hope to do range reports soon. I need to make a barrel tightening block, the barrel seems much tighter than it needs to be. I can easily exceed 80 foot pounds trying to line up a slot, and that doesn’t seem right.

Slightly off topic but an interesting garage mod to their own black gun by some Iowa ARNG dogs.

You know my schedule is WIDE open, right…? :P
Yeah, that does sound just a bit excessive; damn, that’s more than you torque the lug nuts on my bike to!
Don, Thanks for posting that link.
That link goes to my boss as an example of how a team functions as a team in design and deployment.
That’s not right. Remember, there is another hole suitable for the gas tube every quarter inch on the barrel nut so there is never any reason to overtighten. Make sure you grease the threads with a quality high temperature grease.
The other problem many people have is that they forget the spring will move to align the gas tube hole. You can move it manually with a screwdriver tip. I have seen a couple of times people tightening the barrel nut to align the spring behind it. That is usually when overtightening happens.
I think the trigger set I sent was manufactured by DPMS.
The trigger is awesome. yes, I klnow the spring and collar and snapring rotate; the castellation on the nut goes about 1/16 of an inch past the first hole, and gets incredibly7 tight before getting anywhere near the second hole. I figured I’d look at ther spacing specs, maybe the nut is too short, or the threads on the upper too long
I ordered one of them and will probably use an ArmaLite lower and the trigger kit they sell as well. My other black rifle has that and it shoots good.
