Did not vote
For the first time in- well, since I helped elect Ron Reagan for the first time.
Our locals are all dyed-in the wool democrats. We’re a collar community for the mills and just about everyone has a Union Yes! symbol on their bumper. Amusing that some of the campaign literature has both Union Yes! and Pro Life! on it. the candidates seem to have no clue.
Anyway, there were only two republicans running, and they were not by any means superlative choices, though the one (r) candidate that actually knocked on my door with his own hand did in fact win. Guess actually showing up did count for something.
I’m about at the point where I want to stand outside the polling places with a taser.
The good citizens of our area voted about 56 to 45 percent to spend 160 million on a new school. Crikey. In this economy. Guess they don’t understand they have to pay for it. Monkeys.

Our town voted down building a new school a couple of years ago. They had so many kids at one school they had to use portable classrooms. Given budget realities and teacher retirements, the portable classrooms are no longer needed.
Watching the citizens of Ohio commit economic suicide yesterday was interesting, to say the least.
How long before the great taxation boning begins?
I’ve voted in every damn election since I turned 18. I figure if they’re going to make it burdensome to vote through apathy and obfuscation, it’s my duty to cut to the chase and vote down their idiot proposals.
As for not getting the message, my dear mother voted down every initiative and bond issue she could, yet until her dying day she voted the straight Democrat ticket. Talk about shutting the front door but leaving the windows and back door open! She never realized that the pieces of what she believed did not assemble a Democrat (or at least one after 1964).
“I’m about at the point where I want to stand outside the polling places with a taser.”
…not to be racist–because it’s the fact that this is how things are in Barack Hussein Obama’s America–but you can only get away with that if you’re black.
If you’re black, then Eric Holder will dismiss the case against you and you’ll be fine. Otherwise? You’ll end up in the hoosegow and piped sunlight on alternate weekends.
$160 million?? The new high school here in Crete only cost $60 million. Then again they didn’t have money left to buy equipment for it, so I guess you spend what you have and ask for more later.
Shit.
I think they’re building a new school, and significantly renovating another. But is it really worth 1000 houses like mine to build a new school and renovate another?
Indeed, Dave.
Just imagine how much better an education those children will get as a result of a new school. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Our own county rebuilt all their schools, fire departments and courthouses using the revenues from property taxes on inflated home values before the bubble burst. We shouldn’t need anything more for another 50 years. Good thing too, since we won’t be able to afford it. Plus, we still have to pay for all other new buildings using a diminished tax base.
Hey Ed,
How do you like being redistricted into J.J.Jr’s fiefdom/little slice of hell/congressional district….. only good thing is “Debbie “I got no clue” Halvorson” is talking of running against him in the primary…..
Not that I am going to vote for her but the squabbling should be fun to watch…
I’ve been redistricted into JJJ’s district? How wonderful! Now I can vote against him next year!
…not that it will make a lick of difference. Halvorsen and him are both on the same side and I’ve voted against Halvorsen every chance I’ve had, to ill effect.
It’s the Peoples’ Demokratik Republik of Illinoistan anyway; what do I expect?
I am thinking of registering “D” just to eff with them…
and not that it will make a lick of difference since Boss Hogg’s Gerrymandering lumps us in with……
Calumet
Harvey
Oak Lawn
Lansing
Chicago heights
Matteson
Though looking at the map I wonder if they may have made a mistake?

Jeeze, you guys might as well move out here to Gerrymandered California, at least the weather is slightly better – there’s no limit or season-closure on wild pigs that are everywhere, and you can buy an AR in .50 Beowulf for the pigs (with a bullet-button). And it’s only a 10-day wait on handguns…
