The Ogwife outdid herself
And Partner and his girlfriend joined us, and brought chocolate cake with pistachio layers. Turkey, stuffing, gravy that made me want to ask for a straw, green bean casserole, all the stuff. We brined the turkey a la Alton Brown (Putting the turkey in a bucket is my most important contribution) and now I feel like Mr Creosote, despite not having been to the well more than once.
I am intensely lucky, and am intensely thankful. And I feel like I’mna pop.

From the time I was a little kid, we never had green bean casserole. I’ve heard that some folks actually like it, it’s ok, I guess but I don’t particularly care for it. What I do like is scalloped corn. I could happily eat that twice a week for the rest of my life. The missus and I take it to pot lucks and almost always bring home a squeaky clean dish.
I made my little feast, cooked my little turkey with all the trimmings, and had dark, dense applesauce cake for dessert, washed down with a glass of fine Chilean Cabernet. Life is good. Blessings, Og and all the Ogs.
We roasted our big bird using that same Alton brine recipe and have been for about eight years.
Fabulous!
I hated that traditional dry, bland oven roast turkey mom would serve.
We also fried a twelve pounder without burning down our country bunker.
HA!
It’s good to hear of your warm gathering with ample food and fellowship. Ours was good too with family members staying just long enough to enjoy and the grandsons spending the night.
I hope you had a great Tahnksgiving, Og :)
