Cheap and nummy
Since I’ve been making a conscious effort to minimize the refined carbs in my life and not turn into a skin popping insulin junkie I have been attempting to eat more fruit and tone down on the processed shit.
I like fresh fruit anyway, but the problem is fruit tends to have a very narrow window of usefulness, and then it’s indigestible mush.
lately, though, I have discovered something I like a good deal, just by accident.
I LOVE blueberries, and in order to get really good ones, I will gleefully eat them frozen. By themselves, this is boring, and while I would like them in cereal, I would prefer to avoid eating the oat bran cardboard crap.
So the other day, I poured some frozen blueberries in a bowl of milk, and decided to eat them just like that.
Carrying the bowl to the computer desk, a happy accident happened. The blueberries, hard frozen, were freezing a layer of milk around them, so they became little frozen-milk-covered balls of delightfulness. Good lord, are these good. no processed sugar, not a lot of fat (I used 2% milk), and yummy milk. I just have to make sure I don’t keep eating it until I get sick to death of it.
Plus, it makes your poop a loverly purplish color.

I pop them in the Vitamix and make a sorbet – or add a banana and an apple and make a FREE smoothie (bite me JambaJuice!) – and makes the poop super plush too.
I’ve done a lot of smoothies. Those are awesome on their own.
I might try adding frozen banannas too.
THis was, when I was growing up, a special treat.
Try it with rasberries.
You haveta have the fruits cold.
Very cold.
Refrigerated apples, if you buy the right variety, seem to last longer than most fresh fruit. Fuji and Cripps’ Pink (Pink Lady) seem to last a long time in the fridge and are wonderfully sweet.
Never been fond of them, except in the most unhealthful way – marinated in (real) maple syrup and drizzled with whipping cream. If I put that concoction in a blender, would that make it better for me?
Doc once told me to eat ’em.
Been scarfing since.
Re fruit narrow window; we started drying sliced fruit when it began to turn soft. Apple, banana, plum chips. Good stuff to munch on; tasty, no preservatives, no extra sugar.
Because, after all, isn’t it all about poop color. That was sooo Og at the end. And lord knows I needed a good laugh tonight. :-)
I love me some blueberries. Got a bunch planted out back. Pick enough to feed a small army every July.
