A farmer is haying and his old, decrepit hay rake breaks down.

A passerby notices the farmer messing with the complex machine and offers to help “For $500 I’ll fix it” The farmer has to have his hay in, and will lose evrerything if he doesn’t. he gives the stranger his $500, and the stranger walks around the machine, looks intently, and pushes a tangled rake tine. The machine begins to work and soon the farmer has finished his haying.

Later, after the hay is up, the farmer looks at the stranger, and says “Well, it’s done but I don’t believe I paid you $500 to barely touch my machine”. The stranger says “I fixed the machine free. You paid me $500 to know where to push.”

In the past four days, I’ve been told by four different people, that I know where to push. I won’t elaborate beyond that. Nice to know I still have the touch.
