If Indiana SB0006 passes into law
in the summer you will be able to posess an automatic knife.
Now, of course, it is illegal to own one now, and I certainly would never do so. But when and if I can, it will be one of these.
I have never been a big fan of “Tactical” style knives, the old traditional stuff is what I enjoy, and this is a pretty traditional type of knife. The italian stuff ios very nice, and I like the leverlock for the way I carry; flipping the leverlock means it can’t be accidentally discharged. Other people carry differently so different knives are better suited to their style.
If I can ever afford one, I will buy a Huburtus, which are very nice indeed, or a Puma.
For my Hoosier readers, when this comes through, what will you buy to carry?

I would strongly suggest you check out the “Lone Wolf” knife company products. They have some really neat ideas combining switchblade and thumb-assist in one knife. I got mine at the SOFIC show a couple of years ago.
Meanwhile, in Illinois, we must show photo ID to buy DRAIN CLEANER!
*facepalm*
EMDFL, I looked for the Lone Wolf knives- and though they’re extremely attractive to me- they dont have an automatic. Can you find a link to what you’re talking about? I’m intrigued now.
Pretty absurd that in Virginia, I can carry a gun, but not a folding knife if it happens to have a convenience button.
Even ownership is a crime, unless you are a conservator of the peace or Law enforcement officer. You will be charged with the crime of attempting to sell it. The Law states that possession is evidence of intent to sell.
Totally senseless.
I actually have a Hubertus switchblade, which I bought in ’82 or ’83 while on a port visit to Hamburg while in the Navy. Here’s a pic. I actually bought three switchblades that trip, two of them were crap-quality and broke down fairly quickly, the Hubertus is still with me, a quality knife. I about shit myself when I saw the prices they wanted for them in your link, though. I think I paid the equivalent of $45 for mine.
Mine is a model D2. I think it was a special short run for people who sometimes needed to be able to open their knife with one hand. Designed by Wm Harsey, it’s a modified spear point. The button release is hidden under the right scale(if you’re a righty) – which are a grippy, rubbery material. I know they did make several other similar models.
Give ’em a call and ask them.
Almost forgot,I also have a nice Boker auto that I picked up in Abu Dhabi years ago.
God would it be nice to have an automatic Swiss Army knife. Push down on the implement to choose it, then the lever or button to pop it out. Since half the time I’m using mine it’s either by feel or in the dark, and my soft nails (they don’t break, they tear for chrissakes) means half of the stuff I can’t get open unless I use the toothpick or tweezers, and try not to drop that in the process, this would be tops in 21st century engineering.
Back to reality, I don’t have a hankering for a switchblade or gravity blade. If I’m ever in that close quarters of hand to hand combat I hope I have something with some heft to swing with and not poke with, like a bat, chair, golf club, or the $7 machete from Harbor Freight. I’ve seen the effects of enough knife fights to want to never be in a prolonged one. It’s a horror for the winner and the loser. I even saw a couple of bums go at each other with straight razors on Wabash Street in the Loop 20 years ago, and they had the meat and blood flying halfway into the street, it was like the end of The Shining.
