Win7

and a fully solid state hard drive do an excellent job of speeding up a Wintel box. I’m curious as to how well this does in the long run.

I was thinking about adding an SSD as a boot drive, but haven’t gotten around to it as of yet.

SSDs make anything faster, computer-wise.

Reliability can still be kinda iffy, so keep backups as usual.

SSD’s are good. Need to watch disk clutter as they have troubles reusing free space. That could have been fixed in 7 but I’ve not had a chance to try. Make the computer hum regardless of cpu speed.

I put an SSD into a 6 year old laptop and replaced XP with 7. It boots and runs a lot of apps faster than my almost brand new desktop. My next desktop will definitely have an SSD as a boot drive.
