but I often forget that not all of you have the news sources I have here. For anyone who doesn’t read or get the Chicago Tribune, let me reccomend- highly- reading the columns of John Kass online. He’s a pretty decent guy, in all- what in Chicago we’d call a “No Shit Guy”. I don’t always agree with him, but I never disagree with him. he’s savvier to the ways of the Chicago Machine than most anyone, and his columns show that. If you’re not familiar with the Chicago Way, read his columns for a year and you will be.

Most recently he did a column about the Church and it’s battle with Obamacare.

Here’s the money quote, that endears Kass to me, and is what prompted me to reccomend him to you, in case you don’t know about him.

You and I can and do hold widely different views. But one thing we probably can agree on is that when we’re in church or another house of worship, we know what we should be doing:

Sitting in the back pew, heads bowed, begging mercy for sins.

That’s much better than puffing ourselves up and telling ourselves what’s so right about what we did and what’s so wrong about what the other fellow did.

Emphasis mine.

Go and read, I think you’ll make his column a regular stop on your day.
